I think a few ladders may need to be removed. I think the excess rooves will produce large numbers of snipers which may detract for the Infantry combat a map like this is trying to produce. Not to many, just on or two.
I agree except I think a little more than one or two ladders removed. All these ladders not only enticed too many snipers but also too many support, grenade throwing players.
I like the map from what I've played of it so far. It takes the close-quarters combat element from Karkand and the familar scenery from Mashtuur that I enjoy. It combines two of my favourite maps into one... not to mention it is a sniper's heaven. Looks great.
You guys should try something called Special Forces. You get a lot of maps that look and feel JUST.LIKE.THIS.
cept with cool gadgets :P
but yah, it's a pretty good map.

NO one is kissing their a@@ .. I think it's great that they are giving us a free map, (we could be paying $$ for it) .. and if you are that unhappy don't play the game .. There are plenty of there games ... Blackhawk down, Counter-Strike, and hopscotch but most of you wouldn't like that, you can't go insta-prone during that game.. I'm just TIRED of the one's crying all the time.. either it's change this or you shouldn't have changed that, or give us this, or fix that.. old adage comes to mind "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth".. now stop whining.. Nothing is perfect in this life, nothing is going to be pefect in this life.. deal with it.. If not move on.. EA has been trying to fix the game, hence all the updates, you can't expect them to sit at their work for 23hrs a day to work on it just for you.. they have families, and a life too.
You're right. I don't expect them to do that strenuous of a job; however, the game has been out for over a year now, not to mention the ammount of hours they put into the game while making it (pre-release), but to play it safe we can say 365 days, but even then, they don't work 7 days, they most likely work 5. So here you have 5 days a week and what is it, 52 weeks in a year, or 54? either way, lets say 52. well 40 hrs a week times 52 is: Two Thousand Eighty Hours. That is ALOT of time to do more than what they've done imo.
And considering they have made over 100 million dollars on this game, yeah... I think they could be doing alot more for the community.
First, I didn't read this entire post. Second, I've only played a partial round and explored bit in local server.
My first impression is that the map is a good map. Lot's of options for both sides strategically. The overall thing I found lacking was land elevation. Sure there are lot's of buldings and ladders, but the maps with land elevation always seemed more interesting to me.
Plenty of cover, maybe could do with a bit more immediately outside/along the main road out of the USMC mainbase, the first MEC flag has plenty, but the USMC will be wide open in the initial stages.
As for snipers, any good sniper will have his claymore at the top of his ladder.....claymore = no knife. I see your point however regarding the available cover, though i feel the area around the hotel could be a sniper hotspot. Ive only played with about 8 people, i may well change my mind when ive played a full player load.
I think the US base is fine. It's a permanent while the mec has none.
i just love placing IEDs for the tanks and the cars. when you are in a tank now you pay more attention to the buildings. pretty good map. lots off flags to keep you busy..
I like the limited effectiveness of tanks. They can't roam absolutely everywhere slaughtering anything within 50 feet.
As for snipers, eh, we'll see.
You know........on the primarily infantry type maps........that have tanks and choppers.......but no jets.....like sharqi for example.......karky, Mash..etc.
Thats sorta what is missing I think. Its like you nailed it perfectly.
On these maps, tanks and apcs, really can......in fact go ANYWHERES on these maps. On Karky, theres like 2 alleyways they cant go in.... aside from that..... (the 2 alleyways they always spam) they can do anywheres.
Choke points for armor, that forces more armor vs. armor, instead of infantry versus armor would be a valid, and sweet map making point. Burnt out cars, or toppled building into the streets, that say........sorry tank, cant go here. Making whole street areas fairly safe and free from amor fire, allowing perhaps infantry fighting to be flaring high in those areas. Be cool
Heck..... a map that would PUSH and MAKE this type of thing happen would rock.....in otherwords, a map big enough (probally about the size of most 64 player maps) a map big enough to where you have 2 different battles raging on within the same map. The infantry waging war in the interrior of the "city", and the armor, waging war, for control of the outside......IE airport, nuke plant, whatever.
If you could successfully make that map, then put in a sort of Push mode, where as the tanks waging war outside can only cap the airport/plant whatever, when their teams infantry has control or major control of the inner cities control points. And maybe, when a team has control of that inner city flags, they might want to risk team mates and send them outside the city to help capture the airport/plant. When the team who has the control of the majority of the inner city flags, captures the outside nuke/airport flag, the game is over, and they win. HOWEVER, if at any time the inner city flags, fall to their hold being minority, even if they cap the airport/nuke plant outside.........they dont win.
I know this was long, but if you think about it....it would be a work of art.
Yeah im bored.
