Doesn't this map look like Basrah Streets from USI? The same clolur scheme, and that tall building+square with a fountain cp and the overall visuals look suspicioulsy familiar...

Yes, but if this is to be the next Karkand then in that aspect the US uncap has very few buildings and does give that Karkand type feel.

I think the Lake flag on 64 size needs something. Even if it is just a short outpost tower.

Put a really tall tower near the MEC Mosque like what you see in SF Ghost Town.

Lower the wind noise. I would prefer to be able to hear people walking in a close quarters map like this.

yeah its not too impressive, just the same features used over and over again. they should start holding contests for the community to submit custom maps to be used in ranked play.

I agree. Each quarter they should have a 'best-of' contest of all the map makers.

The map is given to EA/DICE to clean-up/polish and then its released as a 0.0x patch that updates this map.

EA/DICE chooses 3 maps that are added to the patch. At the end of 3 months whichever map has the most players/time spent, it'll be added as an official map.

I would think it would be easier to choose a map than make one from scratch?

Id personally like to see some custom buildings, seeing the same mosque and hotel(plane was a nice touch though :)) and the other set of 6 or so buildings being used over and over again gets a little old, hell even new textures would be nice

Id personally like to see some custom buildings, seeing the same mosque and hotel(plane was a nice touch though :)) and the other set of 6 or so buildings being used over and over again gets a little old, hell even new textures would be nice

I personally don't mind the buildings. It's nice to finally get something for free from EA/Dice.. Keep up guys ... Looking forard to 2142

but have read all the posts here
most are well written and show some excellent insight
however - I have ONE MAJOR COMPLAINT
it kind of made me sick to see all a$$ kissing to Dice - for what????
making a damn map????? that only uses existing structures?????
give me a break - after earning in excess of $100 million in sales
and over 1 year - they get one thing right?
they (EA and DICE) have been treating the community like scum since day one
if not for the contributing excellent oversight by great FORUMS like this - we would still have nothing
yes - I know = this is a map review post only - but it just mad me mad to read all this "gushy" stuff
also - I have said many many times - this is a GREAT game for $50
better than most real military simulations
but that is still no excuse to 'buy or forgiveness' with a free map
are we all that cheap???
how about the dozens of hours of anguish from crashing servers
fix that - more important than a free map

NO one is kissing their a@@ .. I think it's great that they are giving us a free map, (we could be paying $$ for it) .. and if you are that unhappy don't play the game .. There are plenty of there games ... Blackhawk down, Counter-Strike, and hopscotch but most of you wouldn't like that, you can't go insta-prone during that game.. I'm just TIRED of the one's crying all the time.. either it's change this or you shouldn't have changed that, or give us this, or fix that.. old adage comes to mind "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth".. now stop whining.. Nothing is perfect in this life, nothing is going to be pefect in this life.. deal with it.. If not move on.. EA has been trying to fix the game, hence all the updates, you can't expect them to sit at their work for 23hrs a day to work on it just for you.. they have families, and a life too.

Another democrat here... EA (and Dice)are doing half-ass job here from day one. all this undercooked patches and addons leaving alot of ppl annoyed. they not even trying to use all the potencial of BF2. thats why BF 2149 or watever, is not on my list and i think its going to share Daikatana's fate.

They learned there lessons, I bet Bf2142 comes out with alot less bugs thanks to the open beta. Jalalabad is an ok map, seems to realistic though becuase the US would destroy them everytime. How about putting the cap flag on the roof to make things harder for the USMC.

Played this map a little, and:
- wind sound are to loud
- this island: it shouldn't have shallow water on USMC side OR have shallow water on MEC side.
I've found a bug in "bazaar booth" but it's in "bugs" thread
