You were able to put in your own music in BF:V. It's just that everyone else hears the defaults unless they've changed their files too.

      Re: Music ingame?

Nope no music for me in BF2. Ingame or otherwise.

I can't even play without headphones now. Speakers now just make me feel disconnected from the game. I want the most immersive expereince I can have, and music only seems to detract from that, for me anyway.

I think people underplay what good sound can do for your game. I hate war stories but......

      Example:

Me alone Construction Station Kubra Dam. I hear a chopper comming. Turn in the direction I hear the sound, zoom AT in.

      Wait

      Wait

A chopper pilot lands on the cliffs above Construction Station. In the exact direction I was zooming. His blades haven't even stopped turning when I kill him with out even destroying the chopper.

I'm assuming he was sitting in the gunner's seat.

He's dead, and their choppper sits there till it bursts.

No music for me. Can't have it. Could I have done that with music playing? Possibly. I think it would have been harder though.

For BF2, I think that listening to music would be damaging... you'd miss so many telling sounds... an approaching chopper or jet, sniper bullets that just miss you and ping off the building beside you or the ground below you, an enemy unit yelling "frag out!" (or your own for that matter)...
I would listen to trance sets while playing D2, keep me up until 5 AM.

        Something about those Blizzard games.

The loader music for BF:V was old but awesome . The song for Ho-Chi-Minh trail especially, It ain't me - Creedance Clearwater Revival (something like that) !

That was Fortunate Son. The whole Vietnam soundtrack was actual songs that were popular from that era. The radio station they played at the airfields was awesome, although the name of it escapes me.

Oh. The almost only thing they sing is "it ain't me, it ain't me"...

I didn't notice any change in gameplay except that loading times were a little bit longer. There's nothing too spectacular about my computer either. In game, I turned the music down to 0% (which went back to 33% after a CTD). But BF2 music really only comes up at the end of a round anyways.

So I ran my music player, put the volume on it down to about 50%. And I ran the game. My video settings are 800x600 all on high except light (on low), and dynamic shadows (off).

              Specs: 3.0GHz P4 w/HT, 3Gb PC3200 RAM, 6600GT PCI-e, 800MHz FSB, 200GB SATA drive, Soundblaster 5.1 Live! Platinum (old school).

As for the gameplay, I pretty much played as I usually do. First round, I commanded on Dalian (came in half way through, and only 12 people). I got a whopping 18 points. Next two games were Mashtuur, and I got about 40-50 each of those. Maybe if I make a custom playlist it will make a difference - instead of shuffling my entire music collection. Regardless, it was a nice bonus to hear some good music in the background, and still being able to hear everything in-game too. I will say that Vodniks drown out the music though. Those engines are loud!
What media player do you use?

EDIT: Aaaargghh this thread is dying, I wish you could bump your threads ...

I can't seem to get hotkeys to work in bf2, they work fine on the desktop, can someone please tell me how to make them work?

Strange... It has happened to me too.

Anyone knows a good tip on a good music player that can be used inside BF2?

                    Re: Music ingame?

Well I guess since 1.3 we are not supposed to use winamp in game anymore.
I know that it used to work previously.
Will let you know if I find an alternative.

maybe it was to try and stop macros? All I know is that it will annoy more people than macros in-game do. But i suppose that is what EA want so we all buy 2142 instead
