Yes, they are harder to hit, even when you are close to them.
Me and a friend tested that trick and I almost needed to empty a clip to kill him at point blank range (with an M16).
    Tested it several times...

DD and Bunny hopping are some of the lamest things in this game. It is totally ok to complain about it. I don't think that DICE should change the game for it, but if you don't want to hear someone complain about your LAME bunnyhopping don't click on the thread...

I love this "I don't do it, but there isn't anything wrong with it..." clearly you know there is something wrong with it or you wouldn't preface your remarks with "I don't do it"...

            Re: Are these hacks?

Planes bleh, we all know about them, they are more of a balance issue with me, but on to this macro/diving/breakdancing/quake jumping thing.............

I don't begrudge anyone using things in the programming to their full benefit, I mean just who wants to get killed anyway? But...........

The roll maneuver was never intended to be something controlled by the user. It was a random visual that was added. Some one, somewhere at sometime had to spend a lot of time on a server with someone else watching them, go over and over the combination of keys it takes to recreate this in a controlable fashion. If EA had meant for you to be able to roll on demand there would be "roll" key in the control assignments. Therefore it's an exploit, plain and simple.

And before you say, "You get owned that's why........." blah blah blah. If I do start getting "owned" enough, I learn the damn move and pull it more often then you can shake a stick. Don't think I won't , I hate losing. ;-). Because at the point that everyone has to use an exploit to enjoy the game, the cat's out of the bag and the game is dead anyway.

Just because you can do it, doesn't mean it's right or not an illegal exploit. Hollow buildings where people can't kill you is something you can do, should we just incoporate it into the game, and claim those who can't do it are just noobs who can't compete?

Not to mention unrealistic or stupid things intended by the makers are just that, they are not a justification for every glitch and exploit that is also urealisitic and stupid looking. There's enough imbalances and overlooked items in a complex game like BF2, using those as justification for glitching and exploiting is probably not going to make the game better. That's just a wild guess, perhaps I'm wrong.

Do you steal the flowers in front of a SuperMarket because the company was stupid enough to put them there for anyone to take, with no oversight, or control? Or do you realize there are somethings that need to be, in order for them to sell flowers, such as sunlight, so it's a compromise that they have to accept, and hope everyone finds it in themselves not to take advantage of it. It's the same thing with games, there's no way a company can experiment, and test everything in a game, and design it flawlessly, with no weakpoints in the programming. Just because they can't acheive that flawlessness, isn't a a green light to everyone who finds a glitch or exploit and to use it carte blanche.

Imbalances are similar, but are flaws in the vision of the makers, it happens a lot in games. Often times ingenious countermeasures are created to combat an imblanance that was once percieved as insurmountable, thus creating a great gameplay. For good or bad, imbalances are part of a the intential hard coding of the game and are more likely to have countermeasures that were also intentional. What's the counter to an very successful exploit or glitch? Another exploit or glitch? It's unlikely one exists. That's the difference.

Personally I don't like the roll exploit from an estetic point. I payed for a Modern Combat game, not a breakdancing game. While there are many "unrealistic" things in BF2 they don't make an impact visually. Their purpose is to improve gameplay or add a certain element. Magic bags the cure people is not realistic, but they don't impact the game visually for all users. Planes fly at near stall speeds, and turn with losing little altitude. It's to make them easier to fly, and to allow them to fit within the scale of the BF2 maps. But they still look like planes when they fly.

Some one spinning on the ground as soon as they hit the deck just looks stupid. What if everyone did it to everyone? Just how stupid would the game look? I wouldn't play it, I really don't want to have to learn the damn move and spend my entire game looking up at people's crotches and through high grass, every time there's an engagment of the enemy.

An exploit that is successful only narrows the game's experience and diversity. Limiting the options and tactics one has when an engagment occurs, is a step backwards. While game imbalances do this to a certain extent, they are part of a games development and growth. Exploits are different and cause the makers fits to try and patch out of the game.

With that said, I still don't like servers that admin against duck-diving and macro-rolling. To me, it's not that successful a manauver anyway, doesn't happen often enough, and it's hard to monitor. It's not worth the squabbles admining against it, creates.

Jumping is similar , but that's a legitimate move and if it's a gameplay style you want to use , then it's your perogative to do so. It looks stupid, but not much you can do about it, since it's legitmate programming within the game.

There was a day, when I played RogueSpear Urban Ops, and to gain more access to maps, but still have 3rd person restricted as was the favorite gamestyle at the time, we had an honor system not to use it. Almost everyone to a tee, honored that agreement for the sake of the game, and respect for those running the server. Can you imagine that type of respect and compromise in todays gaming crowd?

              Re: Are these hacks?

Well as people have mentioned, those are not hacks but more like exploits. Those bunny focking frogs shoud go hitting some pinball or something. This is not a simulator but still there is a intention to crate enjoyable war game with some consessions to good playability. I'm pretty sure there was not any intention by DICE to crete armies of jumping maniacs fighting each other.

I actually pity those fellows who tries to be the best no matter what. This game should be creating some illusion of being in the battle yourself, fighting against enemy. If you don't let your imagination to play even a little bit, u miss all the fun.

I'm totally sure that if your imagination lets you picture yourself being in the middle of war while jumping constantly like rabbit, you should meet some doctors.

If your reactions are not equal to others, try to be cunning and overcome by this way. I give credit to those players who got me killed by using brains or being more faster or accurate then me. I do not consider temporary jumping in front of tank to be stupid, because those situations there is some splash damage in the air, but I've been seeing some idiots jumping constantly round after round up and down. They spoil my illusion

                  Re: Are these hacks?

FIrst off, this is called 'prone hopping' and it was addressed in patch 1.2, so it shouldn't be here anymore (possibly hacking), if they are prone hopping, it's basically them levitating up and down prone all the time and they are hard to hit. This was SUPPOSED to be fixed in patch 1.2 along with dolphin diving.

IMHO it's some dickhead attitude to first ask a dumb (because this is old and answered 1000 times and you would have noticed if you had bothered to look or use the search function) question and then attack the one who cares to answer it for the 1001 time.

EDIT: AFAIK was dolphin jumping 'fixed' with 1.2 and prone jumping not?!

I thought both were supposed to be fixed, because pronejumping is basically dolphin diving multiple times in a row. Either the pronejumping was well addressed in that patch, or they just didn't address it, or they were using a hack to pronejump.

One of the better posts I've seen in this forum, especially in a exploit thread that's usually full of crying/whining/flaming. Sometimes people forget that these forums exist for fans to talk about their experiences/opinions.

Self imposed honor bound rule does still exist on some servers. Laid Back Crew usually has a lot of player/donators/admins on, and they don't tolerate exploits/hacks that deter fair play and good game experience. Others that I've been to that are worthy are walking dead alliance, and NEPA-Chicago. There are many good gamers/people/teamworkers out there even after 1.3. Seek and ye shall find..

Until then - I have found that depending on the gun you're using against the rolling/diving macros - it helps to start at waist level and then track them left or right. If your accuracy is anywhere above 20% you should be able to take em out.

Seriously? Have you played it yourself? It's nothing but a CS copy-cat, several thousand times less realistic than BF2.
