I avoid servers that have rules preventing people from attacking main bases, or put strange restrictions on who can attack a base and why.
USE THE WHOLE MAP PEOPLE.
Play all the flags, all the vehicles, all the kits. Use your creativity, do something unexpected, try sneaking around and knifing the lazy commander who's hiding face-down in some bunker back in his own uncap. Better yet, C4 the commander, and really give him a "click-click boom" wakeup call.
I mean, sheesh... whaddaya want, we all line up and meet out in the middle of the map somewhere? What is this, Battlefield 1815?
If you're getting spanked in your main, then your team needs to work together better. Yeah, it's no fun getting abused by a better team, but so what? Play the game better, work together. Instead of hiding in some "untouchable" base camp, and kicking all those players who were good enough to capture the whole map earlier in the game, buckle down and fight your way out of your predicament.
Why do people want to hide behind these rules, unique to certain servers only, that end up punishing aggressiveness and hard-charging players, only when and if the admin on duty decides to enforce them?
Base-camping is the reward for the team that earned the victory. It is the gravy on the meat for those players who have capped all the other flags, who outfought the other side, and who dominated the map through their effort and the results of their teamwork.
I don't like being base-camped any more than anyone - it is hell to be on the receiving end - but making it illegal to attack a main base removes the penalty for playing badly, and that's important motivation for the next round.
Marking uncaps as "enemy-free zones" gives the losing side a break they don't deserve, it eases them out from under the fate that their own playing brought down on their heads.
I say "If your team is good enough to take all the flags, then base camp their main, kill 'em all and let EA sort them out."
