It is a shame that its so apparently random, but think about it, how many times have you nailed a completely flukey shot on someone from a long way away?? It evens out over time..

Don't go on the realism parade would you? BF2 is unrealistic, Planes that re-arm and reload whilst doing fly-bys, getting healed by boxes, Vechiles getting fixed next to boxes. Come on!

Edit: IF BF2 was realistic there would be no need for PRMM would there?

My other is the blantant distance missing, thats those times when your prone, crouching, zoomed and you see your opponent. You fire of quick burst..then they just stop. No matter what you do..not a single shot nor a burst will hit..
Then they spot you..80% health, your saying "dear god WTF!! he is in my crosshairs, Im zoomed!! why cant I hit him??!".. 30% health.."Gah full auto!! spray and pray!!"..dead.

Sometimes I think its lag, maybe just random dumb luck.

Theres times when I can go round after round on point, then sometimes its liek nothing lands. Those times when every time you "lead" a person it hits..then the times that no matter what lead you put on them no moving shot will hit.

I guess in someways it gives a window of oppurtunity to a person and opens the game up to randomness, not a game of deadly accurate shots always.
Just nothing gets under my skin more then having the jump on someone, doing everything in your power to try to hit them....just to have them turn fire off a burst or two and finish you in a 1/3rd of the time you were firing away.

        But I love BF2
I am 80 to 90% sure that alot of this game is based on luck. Still love it though.

Thats your problem. I like the L85 because its accurate...most of the time.
Its either spot on or total miss with that thing.

Don't forget the fact that upon being bombed, you can be revived. Medics sure are quick at picking up your pieces.

Don't ever take the animations in the game as confirmation that you shot the person. Animations are controlled on the client side and are disastrously off from where the server info has your opponent placed.

A good example of this is jets, it is very pronounced on there and is the reason alot of people in jets say they can't kill **** with the main guns. They follow a guy who start turning, they try to lead ahead with the mg and lay into him, they see alot of bullet impacts on the very back end of the jet but nothing is happening. Once you factor ping into it, if your shooting at the very back of the jet and he is flying somewhat perpindicular to you, by the time the server gets the info about where your bullets landed, they are actually right behind the jet and not on it, they need to lead their shot more. If you have your lead down properly in a jet, it takes less than 30 bullets to roast another one.

It's not exclusive to BF2 either, it was in all BF games like this. In DC, the stinger was an awesome example. There were times it looked like my stinger just missed a helicopter that a clan buddy of mine was flying and he would confirm that he took that thing straight in the canopy.

Re: Seriously I shot you in the face.

I have hit people at less than 10 virtual yardson an unprotected part of their head, with the Medic's L85... and they walked away.
Now unless they were standing right on a med kit, I don't see why they should have lived.
IMO, unless it's with a handgun, no one should survive any headshot except at the most extreme distances. Even a handgun should take a person down to almost nothing.

It's even more frustrating when a guy comes from around a corner in a Karkand alley, and there you are standing perfectly still with your PKM, unloading everything at point blank and he pulls out a pistol and kills you.

The greatest thing is when you unload on someone standing behind them and they are still able to turn around and take you out...
Also whats with the missles going through some of the choppers...I was playing dragon valley and the there were two choppers one I took down constantly and the other no matter what the missle just traveled through...glitch or cheaters..dunno

I have this od skill of what looks liek firing A2A or G2A missles right through the open side doors of the blackhawks.
It alwasy looks like its gonna hit then some how creeps through the open sides and out the other side.

As for hit and miss with bullets..Im not much of a medic but have been playign one for the last 2-3 days..and by god no matter what the ping I have had less and less of a prob. hitting with them. Ive come to relize if you factor in the severity of poorness in accuracy of a weapon with the ping of the server you do worse it seems..so Ive just been usign the medic sniper/assualt weapon (36E) and this thing never misses.
At a distance its a sniper/spec ops gun and up close its a assualt/support power..simply amazing.
Factor in if I even get hit I have self heals..WOW.
                        God mode!
Now I know why 90% of people play medic
I just dont wanna end up another carbon copy medic..its nice to actually play other classes instead of looking and playing like every monkey.

Medics are great, but when you play as a medic, you should actually play as a medic. How many times have I been sniped, with a medic right behind me and shielded from the sniper, and not bother to revive me? Or when we're lying down on the deck of the US cruiser fighting Marines, and there's a medic that doesn't bother to lay down health packs for those who need it.

Snipers are not meant to be up close.

If you want to assault with a sniper rifle go play CS.

Stop it with these "snipers need to be more powerful!" posts.

Snipers are already overpowered, and the most annoying class in the game.

They should be nerfed or removed.

                            Thank you.

Oh believe me I know what a lag shot is. Ever play mechwarrior 3? you had to actually aim 3 or 4 invisible mechs in front of whats actually being shown on your screen and shoot at thin air. Those 1on1's I was talking about were us testing hit boxes. When I confirmed those shots he was running straight away from me and I him. Seeing only puffs of smoke hit his back and him taking no damage. This didn't happen all the time but enough to make it noticeable. It seemed that when we faced and ran toward each other there was no problem at all.

Re: Seriously I shot you in the face.

When you run towards each other, you don't need to lead your shot, just aim for his neck and let the conefire tear his face and chest apart.

When both of you are running away from each other, say 20 feet apart and parallel, you need twice the amount of lead as you would need if you were standing still and him running the same pattern.

As I said, Seeing a puff of smoke on your screen is not confirmation. The animations are basically not adjusted for your ping, they pretty much show them in real time with what you see as a client. Not sure if you understand what I mean or not, but that is the basic jist of it.

I've been playing FPS online games since AvP 1&2, UT99, Tactical Ops, Battlefield 42/DC/V among other things. I know what a ****ty lead is lol.
