I use the SF disk, it useally skips "verifying client data" (or it just goes really fast sometimes).

Ive used the dvd of sf to run bf2 since sf came out and in my experience it dosnt skip verifying client data. However it does mean i dont have to swap discs if i want to change games and play sf thats why i have it in there just incase lol evn though i hardly play sf.

my bf2 dvd have been in the dvd-tray since my pc was new(september) and special forces in the other tray since march..

Apart from Unreal i suppose, but that doesn't need a disc...

That was one of the coolest things I have seen a developers do, remove the cd check with the first patch after it has been out a while.

For all my games nowadays I use GameJackal. No mounting images, just install the game, play it with the disc in the drive about 15 minutes and you're done.

This is actually the only game I use the CD for, instead of an image. Not sure why, probably laziness.

Mounting sounds like a good idea, then my drive would be empty. Where is this program?

Many CD burning programs include image-mounting software now but Daemon Tools is free and has been around longer: http://www.daemon-tools.cc/ .

I've seen a few people in here say NOT to use a fixed.exe and i'm wondering why? I've used one since they first came out at launch and never had a problem. Every time a new patch comes out, i have to use my disk for a few weeks until a new .exe comes out and then my disk goes back in its case. What is the reasoning for not using them?

I just leave the DVD in the drive.

Alcohol 120% and a full image of the DVD. Imaged the disk and it went back into it's case.
