A good decision from you, ghaib. I'm going to test the 2142 demo only too if it comes out some day but not gonna buy the game. I'm just so sick of the BF2 game engine lag and I'm definitely looking forward to Crysis and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. It's just so frustrating that even formating and updating your computer up to date aren't enough to make BF2 smooth and perfect playable like my all other games which run just perfectly. Luckily we have some other game developing companies that do know how to program high quality games without full of bugs.

I crashed 3 times in a row when I clicked on join game. I rebooted and crashed again. The next time everything worked fine. Was I ****ed? Absolutely, but did it stop me from having my nightly narcotic effect from playing ABSOLUTELY NOT. Problems are just excuses for doing what you feel like doing anyway. Would I reformat, re-download, install, patch etc. to play the game? Again, an unqualified yes. The thing I don't get with the goodbye postings are people trying to convince other people they should quit.

Red tag bug? Ok it may happen on very rare occations, who cares? It's one of the most complained about bugs, but the complaints overshadow the actual effect on the game. When I see it happen, a few people complain, the person logs out and comes back and the problem is solved. Why anyone would use this as an excuse to quite the game is beyond me. I don't have my head up my butt, there are bugs in this game, but I play anyway and still manage to enjoy it immensely.

It's one thing to leave quietly, it's another to have to proclaim it to the world. Usually they are just seeking validation that they made the right decision.

The problem that concerns me is that a lot of people take a wide sweeping generalization that everybody has CTD's and such. Fact is, there are a lot of people who don't have these errors and are enjoying BF2 and are getting extremely annoyed by seeing the forum quickly turn into a cespool of bitching.

We are very well aware that 1.3 brought errors to many players, but starting new threads for the same problems is pointless.

I had the same problem and I was locked out of CS:S for a full week. Atleast I can get into a game of BF2 with a bit of determination because it crashes randomly. Just stick around, 1.31 will be around the corner

Actually Valve is better. CSS is how old and they still support it? Compare the changelog for the patches/fixes that speaks volumes. The only difference is that the BF2 community isn't a bunch of 10 years olds with sh!tty diapers like they are at steampowered.

Sorry to see you go, like so many other people. It is sad that people leave because of QA problems and not because of dislike of a game. I think about leaving, but I am still happy with the game. Coming to say good-bye is what makes this a community. We are all here for our passion of this game.

I never suffer from the Red Tag or the CTD. I don't use the server browser ever. But, I don't like the crazy pings that have shown up and that my Autolauncher no longer works. I am sure many of us feel your concerns.

It seems like breaking up with a girlfriend. You'll miss the ass, but not the problems [in BF2]. I truely wish you well, and hope to see you in QW and BF3.

Your really hurting EA with this you gave them money now your taking load of their servers. Way to stick it to the man. If you were really that upset why did you keep buying expansions?

When you feel the need for a large scale battle youll be back to playing BF2 i'm willing to bet on it. The games not perfect but atleast it is unique.

Did you think about mebe trying some of the mods?

Well said mate spot on!
I recently had an issue with my internet connection dropping, i spent hours, days, weeks trying to sort it. It ended up being an intermitant problem with my router. Did i give up and say no, im never going on the internet again? No i done what had to be done, i love and cant live without an internet connection now. If you love BF2 enough you will do the same, and do whatever it takes to get it running again :)

These games are nothing like nor trying to be like a battlefield game so I dont get where you draw that comparison.

I know how you feel. I felt the same way, but the server browser is pretty much fixed now and I don't really crash much. Although I seem to do more regularly now at the start of games, but that doesn't really bother me. It's much worse crashing in the middle/end of a game. So now I can sort by ping and actually click servers, so I'm content.

What exactly is it that you're upset about, the evolving game or the issues arriving? Battlefield 2 is considered a flagship game in various ways. Not only did it create a new mold and standard of gaming, but the community interactivity and the attempt at evolving the game post release is fairly unprecidented. Of course anything new is bound to have problems, and EA/Dice has been open at accepting they've messed up a number of times on a number of things. I keep saying this but do you really think they want to have to release patches every month? Each patch is made by people on the clock. It costs EA money.

In a buisness sense, the problems have only hurt them, both with the community and for the coming release of 2142. But they still haven't given up on the game or the community. In fact, they're taking even further steps to ensure the future of BF2 even though their new focus is 2142. They realize that the mod community has taken the BF2 engine and gone above and beyond what any mod community has before.

There are over 40 mods being created for this game. At least half of them are eagerly anticipated by the gaming community, and the other half is quicky growing fanbases. There's literally a mod for every person to enjoy. Every problem that you're experiencing with the game can be solved by turning to the mods. I haven't played on a ranked server in about 3 months and I'm relearning BF2 all over again, and loving every second of it.

Also, and I'm not blaming you for this, but something the common consumer has to start understanding is that things arent anywhere near as simple on the inside as they appear from the outside. I work in shipping and receieving at a lab equipment plant and we primarily use UPS. A couple days ago they released an update to their software that made all the important information, like the cost per package, about 50% smaller on screen, and they changed the wording of the billing options so they're too similiar and vague. To them, those changes seemed like a good idea for some reason, and I'm sure you've heard of UPS. They're a pretty big company... but they made a mistake. They listened to the wrong people or were trying to address some problem and didn't see the conflict.

Every game that follows BF2 will have a rocky path as well. The processing power required these days is intense. If you read critical reviews about the PSU's required today, some experts are afraid that computers require so much power now that a computer is literally becoming a safety hazard even when set up correctly. Hell, I've got water cooling running through mine right now and a single drip can cause a short, or possibly even a small fire. And I require water because my processor gets so hot it can burn the flesh off my fingers.

The more graphically intense these games get, the more coding is required, and even a single character of coding done incorrectly can result in the whole game crashing. Finding and fixing those in millions of lines of code is next to impossible. There is no such thing, and may well never be, a perfect digital product. Only the very simple ones may become foolproof over time.

Before marking your own little boycott on any company or product, try to see it from their side. Think of the financial gains or losses they experience due to the problems that's upsetting you, and think of it in a buisness sense. The path most companies are going down these days is customer freindly. They'd rather pay the cost of being your buddy than lose your cash because they're just another "faceless corporation". Faceless corporations hardly exist anymore. Most companies dabble in fixing the environment, supporting civil rights, and helping the community because it's ultimately beneficial for them financially.

That said, I hope you turn back to Totalbf2.com from time to time and check out the various mods coming out. They really pack a punch and there's bound to be at least one that will renew your passion for Battlefield 2.

He is right EA better fix it soon, im not a whiner but I don't want to run BF2 at all because of what happened last time (blue screen of death, internet died etc).

Valve make good games but if they just got rid of the $hitty Steam garbage program then there problems would be solved, I can bet at least 90% of people with problems with their software is problems with Steam, thus the reason I use:

May not have as many servers as cs 1.6 or whatever. But so far they have Steamless cs 1.5 and cs 1.6 they are working on Source. Oh yeah Sierra support it, since they created the original cs and watched Valve mess things up with Steam.
