Being a Christian myself I think folks commonly take the faith of of context. Much like with Muslims. There are a select few nuts who take things "too far", well beyond the teachings of what Christ himself was trying to convey (Love, Compassion, Respect, and Loyalty to your brothers in mankind; to a degree). Same with Muslims, thus the Iraq war. A few nuts taint the entire Islamic ideal.

I think in this case those, using the faith of "MoG" as a bashing point, or their hypocritical nature (all christians are hypocrites; I myself included), is kinda' silly. If you take out the religious context, they are simply kicking you for violating a rule of theirs; no form of profanity. If you chose to violate that rule, they have a right to kick you. It seems that you have taken the outcome of your choice as a reason to scream, "Christians are Hypocrites" and vent.

...what really shocks me was that Wargimp stood behind you as if it's a valid point in any way. The simple response to your pointless rant, and uninformed insight, is, "It's their server, they have a right to make rules, if you violate those rules, you're kicked. As long as those rules don't violate the EULA or ROE, which they don't"

This whole thread justs seems like a pointless excuse to bash Christians; it's pretty sickening that is was masked, and taken, as anything less.

Very well stated... but I think you might also be being a little over sensitive.

I'm not anti-christian. I have respect for the core values of the faith. Peace, love, and understanding. These are cool things. Thus my use of the term "psudo-christians" in referance to the bible thumpers that drive me up the friggen wall. Typing "WTF" isn't un-christian.

I donno. I don't recall seeing "thou shalt not swear" anywhere in the bible. By the same token, I don't think BF2 is a very good example of christian values and it's really strange to enforce that kind of rule (presumably to protect children) when obviously the people it would be geared to protect shouldn't be playing the game.

However, I also acknowlage that it's silly to go on an obviously silly server then be suprised when silly things happen.

Flip this thing on it's head. Imagine you're a server owner/admin and someone comes on endlessly spamming chat with "Jesus will save you!" or "Repent your evil ways or burn in hell" type messages. What are you gonna do?

Yer gonna kick the wacko, right?

If they don't want swearing on their server and you wanna swear... play somewhere else.
Simple.

There are all kinds of people online playing this game. We come from all walks of life and play in servers we like to play in. Period.

Bottom line. If you cannot stand a server, why go there? Find another server.

The same way that if you see a church in your area you have a choice to go into it or stay away.

I consider all servers the same as a house to visit as a guest with it's set of rules ranked or un-ranked that I can accept and play the game without too many problems.

I find that playing the game without the burden of real life is more enjoyable. But I have to tell you that one thing is pretty clear:

Online gamers (Birds) of a same feather will flock together.

Now rules are rules. IF you swear and the server says you cant and kick you for it. Oh well. Take your kick and quietly go find another server without the swearing rule.

I will say one other thing. Those who are with God are charged (Have instructions to) by the Great Commision that they shall go and spread the Good News to all the world. What difference is there if they do it from a street corner as a group with signs and a bullhorn or online with messages that might save one person who might otherwise be forever lost?

I personally dont have a problem with Christian servers. If I had a server under my ownership and some how a rule was broken (Probably the official rules of the game only) or some action of a deliberate nature such as blatant TK against a teammate, you will be kicked without any predjuice or consideration for your feelings.

Find servers you like and play in them. Leave the others alone.

I guess the whole entire hypocrisy is there is some clan pretending to blow people to kingdom come under the guise of jesus-hood and adult men and then they then decide morality in this game that throws bodies 60 feet into the air only to hook on the edge of some building upside down.

Be careful here. I am sure you are familiar with the character of David from the bible? He was a "man after God's heart." You might remember the story where he killed Goliath. What is most remembered is that David killed Goliath with a slingshot. What we often forget is that David went on to decapitate the corpse. Violent stuff, huh?

Just because you are a Christian does not mean you have to give up your gaming (think about Paul's writings and the liberties we have in Christ). Unfortunately, non-Christians have a very legalistic (e.g. you have to dress a certain way, talk a certain way etc) view of Christianity. Of course, we have helped create this view: we often present the love of Christ as a a list of rules (evidence in the comment about "thou shalt not swear"). Not very attractive.

Haha..i luv those servers...one time I went in and asked them if the last reserved slot on their server was for the return of jesus....got kicked for that..next time i came in and claimed that i killed them in the name of satan, and that satan had helped me get 5 kills in a row....kicked...then I went in AGAIN and claimed I was possessed by a demon that owned at bf2 and made me play all day long...and asked one of them to come unpossess me wif holy water...kicked again...third and last time I asked them if some of em were transexuals,gay , or women...and why their name only said "men". One said they was a women and I asked her if she had a penis...banned..good times...good times..

They are usually run by griefers and ragers. They set the bait with the name of the server to lure people in. The name piques your interest.

Then, once you're in, they start pretending that they are all high and mighty and start kicking and banning for every little thing just to get their rocks off.

Then, if you go back, you notice that they start breaking their own rules. They start cursing themselves, they make derogatory comments, etc.

Typical stuff.

No offense, but you are anti-Christian. Bible thumpers is just a derogatory term for Christians.

WTF is short for, well, something vulgar. So, the admins have personal convictions where they want to live above vulgarity. I commend them. I wish they had technology to insta-kick the teammates that curse over VOIP, too. I'd play exclusively on those servers.

Ultimately, if you can't respect their rules, then do not play on their servers.

If you don't respect their faith, then try not to be so hateful. Isn't "hate" what you are projecting on them? Think about it.

Well said Paas.....It is unfortunate that stereotypes are typically formed around the extremists in any category, be it Christians, Muslims, white people, black people, whatever. I guess it is natural to notice and form opinions on the extreme ones, and then paint with very broad strokes.

I am a Christian, but let my actions in game speak for themselves. I have rules as far as not swearing, and so forth, but that is because I try to be a moral person, not because the server says so.

So in BF2 you can shoot people in the head with shotguns, run people over, knife people etc but you can't say ****? so the question is, what is worse violence or profanity? I'd say neither.

But seriously, why play on their server? And if you elect to do so, how come you can't control the compulsion to type in chat? Is it that important that you convey to the world your dismay by typing WTF?

Keep your typing and sentiments in the forums, let your bullets talk for you in the servers. If you can't do that find a server that fits your sense of moral consistancy.

Where do you get off spouting crap like that? Do you have proof that these servers are run by 'griefers and ragers'? I've played on Christian servers and they were occupied by great players and rational admins.

Everything you stated in your post is a sweeping generalization of what sounds like a bad experience.
