another quick 180 not turning left or right is the immalman (sp?) or reverse immalman i dunno....roll over like a barrel roll but only 180 deg (upsidown) and then pull up hard...very fast 180 and you dont sway from your flight line....good for a second pass on armor or counter a heli behind you flying fast.

Meh, I'm a nape of the earth flyer.
Using ground cover keep the planes off your back and makes you a harder target allround. The trick is to know how to pop up quick and get into a good killing hover, then get back below the deck before you get owned.

It's stituational tho. Sometimes gettin high is the way to go too.

Expect to get blown up where ever you are on the field and just go with it. It's not a matter of "If" you die, it's when.

Also, practice in single player or in co-op to get manuevers 'n stuff down. Much easier than trying to figure stuff out with the mayhem of typical on-line game play going on around you.
At least let us get in the air at a "cruising altitude"

Re: It's impossible to fly the helo now-a-days.

The problem with most helo pilots is that while they honestly believe in their abilities, most fail at the simplest of tasks: target acquisition, target prioritization and basic evasive movement.

It's all about situational awareness, baby.

                situational awareness....key words fellas

good call! most choppers i see find a target and focus on it not realizing that there are many other posibilities out there...but we all get narrow minded in our lives! just gotta open up and let the other possibilities sink in before you go for tank and 4 infantry units in front of you when the enemy chopper just started to turn round and show his backside to you.....

                prioritize!!!

So basically, you are a chopper pilot that wants to "own" everything, but you are complaining about team play?

I don't know where the smacktards are worse.. on internet forums or in the game.

**** the air in general. I gave up on the helos today, so then I got into a jet (bad idea espacially on a us vs chinese map). And the J-10's don't ****ing miss and I always miss (me being on the US). It ****es me off how un-educated EA is to make the game so unbalanced.

Re: It's impossible to fly the helo now-a-days.

I agree its gotten harder. Thats why I fly more. A good pilot will learn technique to avoid anything that could take him down.

develop a priority list so you know what you're doing before you even take off

                        my priority list:
                        1. other heli
                        2. aa
                        3. tanks
                        4. jeeps & FAVs
                        5. your friends

taking out the other heli (that is obviously going to camp you before you take off) is just a matter of what does that other pilot expect? He does not expect one guy in AA, a vodnik (or jeep) shooting at him, and maybe an AT rocket here and there. Give that bastard a surprise.

once your up DON'T stay in the same place for long. some kid will die and come back and think (I'm going to shoot him down) because most 12 year olds think alike. Move around the map and spread the love.

Yes, its harder. Yes, you can adapt. Utilize your gunner. TALK TO HIM. nothing better in this game then a good VOiP between you and your gunner. Literally will own the whole map if you know what he knows. Make sure he knows what to spot for you, and make sure you give him a good angle to spray.

any more tips just message me. if you want a pilot who's gunner warry just ask around.

I'm pretty good... and I had a 100 + point flying somebody around on friday. Just... flying him so he'd kill people. He went 86-5. I'm not even the gunner or pilot on my team. HAHA. I'm grounded from the heli.

I hope you don't mean wake island! That island is easy to get on. JUST DON'T FLY THE THING DOWN THE MIDDLE! I can't tell you how many times I've wrote that in all caps on that map as USMC and have seen the pilot go right down the middle only to have 4 aa sights, 3 FAVS, and 2 tanks destroy the thing within 2 seconds. As China, I've even made fun of the USMC doing it over and over again ("Geez, maybe flying down the middle will work THIS time, guys!"), only to see the thing come down the middle again and again (which I gladly shot down again and again for 6 kills every time). Flank all the way north or south and come in that way...

Lately, I've been using distance as a buffer in the AC and it has been working quite well. If the gunner is good. Like on wake, stay out of AA range, and let the gunner pick off targets. You can afford to stay absolutely still, because you'll see eryx's coming and the .50's will take a little while to get a beed on you, so you can get out in a hurry if the gunner can't kill it before then. Throw in a manuever to get a better angle like once every 10-15 secs. too.

Here's a big one: Never come in the direction they expect you to. circle around on a different approach. It may take 20 seconds longer to get to the target, but it is usually well worth it.

Here's some tips on getting a jet off of you:

1.) when you hear the lock, or see him coming in, pop flares, obviously, but manuever with the barrel-roll the other users were talking about.

2.) more than that, don't stay still or keep going in the same direction after he comes in. Find some cover between him and you. For example, if you were on the north side of the treeline, move over to the south side if you survive the pass, and change the direction you are heading. Ideally, you want to move into his approach, so you can limit the amount of time he has to shoot at you. It's a little tricky, but after a while you get the hang of it. Actually, if you've flown the jet, just say to yourself "If I were the guy gunning me right now, what would be the most annoying manuever the helo could do?" Doing that usually keeps you alive. Fly low and fast, get out of there as quickly and as stealthily as possible.

3.) Don't count on flares to save you. They used to be a saviour, but now, without violent manuevering to go along with it, they don't do very much at all.

                          goodluck
