Re: Tips for Great Teamwork post 1.3 (by request)

One of my biggest complaints is that Commanders don't issue orders, and even then sometimes SL won't follow them. Sometimes I'll be in a squad and the SL is just all over the damn place, and when I ask for orders I get nothing.

Sometimes I miss the days of when I was in a clan (DC clan back in the day), where people understood that you don't have to cap every damn flag, and if you just maintain a majority of the spawn points and hold a line, you can send in small incursion teams to work behind the line.

    I miss tactics

I agree with Wargimp - showing some teamwork is the best way to get some. Guys who think that calling for repairs/ammo/etc is a waste of time don't tend to bother, but if you can show them that if they ask for ammo you'll give it, then they start to play more as a team and stay close (because everyone like to have lots of ammo on hand and a medpack nearby, right?)... Acknowledging the "spotted" calls and helping to do something about it is reassuring for your squad too. When someone calls off a tank, I hit a quick Page Up and then set about helping the squad take it out. People like to know you'll take notice of them and help them out.

Also, if you're not the SL, requesting orders is good to - it sends the message to your squad that you want to play as a cohesive unit and invites them to do the same...

When I command I usually don't give orders unless they are requested. More often than not, no matter how well you give out orders, they're going to be ignored. Besides, the guys on the ground know what they are good at and generally bring their own tactics to the field. When I've got VoiP avalible, I'll verbally inform the SLs as to which flags are under-defended or are about to be attacked.

When you're playing in a squad that doesn't have oders, it really doesn't matter. Your duty should be to stick with your SL and support whatever he's doing. If you get seperated, look on your map, find your squad, and get your butt over there.

Not capping flags is a viable tactic too. I'll sometimes tell my guys not to push for the flag, but rather spread out and supress it. If you have a majority, you can reduce the enemies tickets faster by punching grunt tickets rather than risk your own lives for a pointless flag.

This thread also has nothing to do with the squad hopping/cycling debate. That's a dead issue. This thread is about adapting to the way things are.

No offence or anything, but how am I the same as you? It's not a Dead issue to me, though I agree I should let it go, but I can't. That being said, i know this isn't a thread about SQ-H or SQ-C, sorry for that .

It's a composit hack job from an early BF2 concept art shot over a Day of Defeat (I think) background.

Umm... that site only seems to be for direct e-mail sending. Is there an issue with the one I posted previously?

Just put in your email and when its sent you will get a link to the download that you can post.

Rapidshare causes problems for some people. IT used to work for me but now all download sessions are marked as 'invalid'. It would be really cool if you mirrored it on ysi :)

Rapid share didn't work. Trying the new post now.

I like joining squads the talk amounst each other, which is quite entertaining to hear their responses to dying haha even in mic only squads I get people on physical mute who run around madly, but that's pretty entertaining to watch too.. :p

                          .demo
                          A battle recorder file.
I should really make a vid... but haven't had the time.

In order to view it you need to place the file in your mydocuments/battlefield2/profiles/genreal/demos folder. Then fire up the game, hit the community tab, select it, click play.

i bought this game for the Teamplay-elements... 2 bad many people just want 2 be squad-leader/member for the medals (playing time) and wont be using teamplay.. sometimes it just takes 1 good old teamplaying squad to win the round... karkand is a great example.. in the beginning every1 always spawns right (UMCS) and 76.89345% will die (don't aks me how i got this amount) just form a squad spawn left and you will be taking most flags with your squad without encoutering any1...

I like the tips Wargimp. When i bought battlefield 2 i had images of roaming the battlefield in a cohesive unit of six, overwhelming the enemy with combined arms and superior tactical nous.

8 months later and still waiting. lol. The old Blachkawk squads aside (werent they fun!) teamwork barely exists on pub servers, and who has the time for a clan really?

Quick question. Can a squad leader give orders, or can he just confirm commander orders? If a Squad leader can give orders then how does he do it?
