A10, Has EA Goofed Again?

OK guys here it is. The A-10 in the upcoming booster pack from what ive heard will have several things missing from its arsenal. 1st and formost it will carry the menacing GAU-8/a avenger cannon but will not be able to take out armor with it? to me that's rediculous? that's the whole point behind the a-10...it WAS built around the gun! i understand for balance reasons..yadda,yadda. But you can just have it overheat rapidly after one straffe like in USI mod so that way if you miss you open yourself wide to SAM attack and the A-10 being slow as is will definitly be shot down. 2nd it has no Air to Air capabilities. such as the AIM-9L Sidedwinder missles so this means A.) you will have to dog fight with the big fat cow of an a-10 or B.) Ignore the enemy bomber on the other team as you both bomb eachothers assests. I want to Poll the community to see what you all think. Grunts remember a good pilot will clear the way for you. try not to have bias when voting on plane nerfs...
Ok so once more to make sure we are on the same page

This is for shredding the poop outta what ever crosses your path on the ground! this is not for dogfighting! this should be the A-10's main weapon. I dont care if its a game.its modeled after real life. If they nerf this they might as well give it the afterburners on the turbines again and have the GAU shoot teddybears and bunnies.

If we are to dogfight with this Slow Awkward plane it should atleast be armed with the 2 sidewinders it has on its wing pylons. so we can defend ourselves better and not spend 10 minutes dogfighting so the other guy can bailand we are left with no points and half a round left.Oh yea and this is a fighter . This below this IS meant to DOGFIGHT!

Just to let you guys no where i stand i am buying this booster for the A-10 and because its set in the USA which i think is interesting. But if they kill off my bird i may have to rethink and just be happy with the mods. I love BF2 im not a hater....but this just Irks me. Please share your comments and remember to Vote!

My opinion, having played AF, is that it is perfect. Spot on perfect.

It does not destroy armor. Yes we've played it.

I understand you're passionate about it, hell so am I, but you can't get honest opinions yet 'cause so few have flown it. IMO, wait untill it's out for everyone and then make a poll.

Yes i thought so too.the way that the gun creates sparks is amazing. At the time USI came out i felt i was still going to play AF more just because i felt would offer a better more finished product. this kinda changes my mindset tho
i have EF and like it i also own SF and love that.

As a self confessed plane whore - taking down tanks with the A-10 is b/s so what if its true in real life?! it would so unbalance the game, even with factors like overheating etc etc

Maybe but consider this, there have been leaps and bounds in the advancement of AA in this game since 1.12 i now fear going below cloud level in a bomber to begin my run.THATS HOW IT SHOULD BE reveal yourself at the last second then boom, as for me i couldnt imagine flying probably 200 knts slower(sub sonic) and dropping my payload and missing the tungsta sp*? i'd be toast lol

Ok, just went and did some testing.

I drove a tank directly in front of the parked A-10, then got in the A-10 and shot the tank.

It will eventually kill a tank.

the gun has 500 rounds. It took 15 seconds of point blank direct hits and between 150-200 rounds before the tank blew up.

Now, it'd be pretty damn hard for a pilot in game to keep that gun focused on a tank for 15 seconds. Also, those were point blank, all bullets hit. In game not all of them are going to hit nor are they going to be point blank.

My advice is to do like good pilots do now. Soften them up with your guns prior to dropping bombs on them. That'll do the trick.

I also tested the Chinese bomber, same results.
