They really only released it, I feel, to get a return on the money they invested in the developement of AF. It was sitting the shelf for months, delayed because the patch for EF was delayed.
Yes, EA does put incredible pressure on these companies to release games. I am sure DiCE is feeling the 'rock/hardplace' pressures of getting boughtout by EA. If EA had not gotten the majority stock of EA sometime ago, then we might see 2142 being released later, and more current development with vanilla BF2. Then again, I could be off because Id, with their often outstanding quality/community interaction, will be releasing QW:ET.
