Just because a bug cant reproduced it doesnt make it any less of a bug. Id be suprised if BF2 is even still playable on its original release minimum Spec with all the extra crap they've introduced with every patch.

Errr, no. I get that bug all the time. What I'm saying is that some bugs only appear in real-world conditions. DiCE, I'm guessing, have never been able to fix the red-blue tag bug because they haven't been able to correctly reproduce it in the lab. I don't believe, as some do, that they have been lazy regarding it but just haven't figured out how exactly it's being caused so haven't come up with a solution. I'm not defending them but it's the job I do everyday so at least I can see things from their side.

In order to have found the ingame browser bug DiCE would have needed about 20 or so BF2 servers, not in a LAN, and maybe in different countries, to reproduce the error.
Though maybe some people will say that this is what they *should* have in place to correctly test everything?

Absolutely. It wouldn't be difficult, all EA would have to do is enshrine it in their ranked server contracts with GSPs ''...one server to be made available for patch/load testing". In the scheme of things it would cost peanuts.

I'm beggining to think that any attempt to modify the existing code causes severe stability issues. Either that or the people at DICE are totally inept.

Plenty. Most do have their quirks, but personally I've never encountered anything to this degree before.

Hmmm, I reckon that 'Ethnic Cleansing' had worse support than BF2 :)

Re: Why has a broken patch been released AGAIN?

Well luckily I have had not CTD yet but most of my clan mates have.

                        BUGS I HAVE :

                        1. Name tag bug happens even more now.

                        2. Being able to drive over enemy land mines.

                        3. Skull Cross bones not appearing on friendly landmines ( yes alt had been pressed to enable it )

                        4. Jump in boat and at same time enemy jump in gun on boat. We stared at each other for a bit while I was driving along and when it finally hit that we were on different sides...he SHOT ME WITH THE GUN ON THE BOAT I WAS DRIVING. bloody strange.

                        5. Medic heals while shock paddles out.

Ok thats form me playing for a couple of hours only. It seems they have not fixed the main bugs they have just added a few more features. It seems like maybe they are not compitant enough to find bugs and shove new features in our faces and hope we forget about the bugs.

Like many have said...ROLL ON QUAKE WARS....I will be going over and not buying 2124. If Dice fixes this game properly in new week or so its so long from me.

Did you try to update Punkbuster manually?

For some reason the red/blue bug always appears more often when a new patch is released. Since it's due to network problems maybe more people play on patch days and it puts too much stress on servers? All I know if that I only see it on 64-player servers and never on smaller ones.
I doubt that the person in the boat with you was an enemy. More likely that he was on your team but had the wrong colour name-tag.

Skull cross-bones disappear from friendly mines when the engineer who droped them dies. About 40 seconds later or so the mines themselves will disappaer. Could it be that? It's all I can think of.

They don't actually have a dedicated testing team working on the patches. The emplyees themselves just spend an hour or two testing it themselves. They never learn.

Do you know that or are you guessing? Cause if thats the case it explains a lot. I've worked for some smaller development companies and they usually almost always had a ratio of 1:1 testers vs. developers.

I believe I either read it from a DICE employee post on these forums, or from some kind of interview. All I know is that the guy said something like "'we' don't get alot of time to test the patches." I'd love it for someone to ask in an interview what exactly the testing procedure is though incase I'm wrong.
