If there are no flags left to spawn on then you can't spawn on another player. It's always been like this.

Right on buddy, this patch is made only and only for noob community that care only about stats and medals. Clan community is gonna die within days. Its like a virus, yesterday 3 clans, today 2000, tomorrow all of them. only community servers willl be alive and full of stats padders, knifing&reviving eachoter and hauling for vehicle drop.

I for one, will quit playing this game.

Well, you already paid for it so you're not saying much.

Also, server income is usually used primarly for upkeep of said servers. Sure, EA is making some cash off of the ranking scheme; yet you're hardly keeping that alive by any margin. There are "SO" many non-competitve clans that if the entire competitive community phased out of existence we probably would notice a 10% drop in the population of BF2; that's me being liberal.

So. I say, have fun finding another game. Best of luck to you in your future "clanness'ness"?

Not being able to join a squad when you're dead is an awful 'feature'. I wasn't a squadhopper, but the new system has created the really annoying issue that if you join a server when a game is already in progress you can't just join a squad and get into the thick of it, and also, on those rare occasions when its 'last man standing', he can't create a squad to and let people join to keep the game going. All because some people are too girly to deal with a reforming squad. Its also going to wreck maps like Wake and Iron Gator.

Exactly, Wake when you cant spawn on squads lol, I tried it last night, THat maps was a joke anyway, now its even worse. They tried justify getting rid of squad switching (which isnt an exploit ffs) by adding vehicle drop, but if they had 2 braincells they would know that commander 90% of the time dont help at all, but are out for them selves or F*****G about jet blocking and all sorts.

Thanks mate, but I'm not proffesional gamer, occasional clan gamer, and yes, there are plenty of games left to play furthermore, comming out even so Im really looking forward to some of them.

Btw: its summer, so if you plan playing games 24/7 whole july/august, be my guest. i for one, will not, especially buggafield, besided qw comes in autumn, and im willing to bet your ass its gonna be like god to bf2, mostly couse its not ea.

I think this form of squad rotation seems logical to me. Squad leader dies, deputy takes over and the process carries on. The side effect of doing such a thing is the dead squad leader can't rejoin the squad for a while (at least until he dies again). I think this con may outweigh any benefit associated with squad rotation in the manner proposed by the orginal poster and the discontinuity this will bring to the squad's leadership might be more damaging to overall squad performance than simply maintaining the same squad leader throughout the map.

I guess this will only become apparent through time.

First: It was known for more than a month HOW this was going to be fixed from the leaked infos. Everyone who thought ahead a little bit after reading the leaked infos knew that you'd still be able to leave your squad, but you can't respawn on the new squadleader then. That's perfectly okay for me. I don't think this kind of rotation will be as powerful and overused as the old one.

But what's much more important: It is impossible now to "collect" dead people and let them wait to spawn whereever they want - the dead can only spawn at a flag OR at THEIR (not any!) squadleader. This is the most important change to me, and I appreciate it.

I cant believe the amount of idiots on here lol. If your defending a flag you can spawn every 15 seconds, so why shouldnt the attacker!!! Thats what made infantry matches so much fun, the constant ability of 1 person turning into 6 at a blink of an eye. Fast paced furious action rulez on this game.

LOL "why shouldn't the attacker"?! The gamemode is called CONQUEST, boy. The flags were supposed to have a strategical meaning. That freaking ridiculous 1 person turning into 6 ruined the whole tactical aspect of the game. Thank god they removed that bull$hit.

Im sorry but keeping the squad leader alive and all that bollocks is *ull****. This game is not a accreate account of a war simulator lol, and neither is it tring be. Its made for FUN, to HAVE FUN. I've found that soon as people get good and learn how to become skilled at some aspect of the game, EA/DICE with the noobs comes in and takes it away and changes the whole gameplay of the game.

We'll see... perhaps some wannabe clans which completely relied on squadhopping will leave, but who cares?? If they are unable to adapt now, they're not a big loss for the community.

Anyway it's not a joke, it's not that hard to reach the island - with REAL teamwork (instead of squadhopping). Just protect your transport helicopter on it's way, US attack chopper pilots and jet pilots should work together on this task. Use the boats too so there's a second chance if the transport helo fails. Well but that seems to be too complicated for people who never thought about teamwork and always relied on squadhopping.

MR BROWN PANTS - I'm highly skilled player and believe me, i can kick many a peaoples ass on the ground so dont come at me and say im un-skilled!!! And once again ill say its not a glitch ffs!!! It was part of the game. But now they think its better to remove that 'tactic' and replace it with commander dropping jeeps!!! On paper yes, it could be a good idea but even you got to notice that in public, commanders do what they want, people dont follow orders and any type of teamwork is next to impossible. This just puts even more spanners in the works. But the reason im so uptight about the whole change is cause i play infantry ONLY!!! Squad rotation made these battle intense and really made them high octane s**t!

It only thing i didnt like which they STILL havnt removed and created an even worse problem is dolphin diving. Prone/Crouch technique makes a dolphin dive kinda animation and may not be as effective but hell it works. And there fix for dolphin diving now as the effect of people been able seemingly shoot through walls!!!

People learn the 'tactic', lol! Learn what exactly? Nipping from one squad to the next to suit your needs. Hardly a skill or a tactic to be fair. In effect, squads as they were intended to operate, were completely redundant. I know, as I was often a squad leader and I'd frequently find that one moment I'd have 3 squad members and would start trying to coordinate them with orders, only to find that within minutes I'd have none. What's the point!? To answer my own question there was no point. The whole squad function was simply being used as a teleportation system by squadhopping loons like yourself.

In the whole of yesterday playing on the 50 klicks server I had more squad interaction and teamplay than I'd experienced in the many months leading up to the release of 1.3. This clear distinction leads me to be believe that the "noobs", as you call them, were actually the people abusing the squad system! If the threat (or premise) is that these guys will be leaving BF2 as a result, then the game will be a better place for it.

Anyway, The point is, they havnt fixed ANY!!! of the bugs which have been present since 1.0 (By bugs i mean the 'e' bug, Server browser etc etc). All they done is add more. I just played it for a good 2 hours, and ive never got so frustrated in my life lol. I mean what is the point of been squad leader lol. Non at all. YOu cant engage properly and if you do and die you gotta spawn 6 million miles away normally. And dont come at me with you gotta work as a team to keep your squad alive, all that happens is the plane/heli/tank/apc/AA/cartillery/artiller/supply crate gets dropped on you. Never mind the fact that the commander as a UAV over your head lol.

Im not going rant anymore, but just say that i personally think the game is in an utter state of disrepair, and why. Cause EA want you buy Armered fury, and 3 months down the line 2142. And most of you getting it shoved up the rear so hard you will. Well the sum of your intelligence. As for me, Pfff, i only brought BF2 till OFP2 came out and OFP:AA is out soon so no skin off my nose. You dont get 12 year old minded people playing that game cause its 'too hard' lol.

I played Gulf of Oman last night as an SL for 5 very good squadmates. I flew a blackhawk at around 600 meters for about 1/2 an hour and acted as a mobile spawn point for my squad.

My squad, because of a good commander giving us relevant orders and me acting as an effective SL, was rewarded "best squad" for the USMC team with a total of 300 points in the round. I got 8. 8 points for 1/2 hour of flying around acting as a mobile spawn point.

Sure, I helped my team win (and we did), but I guess EA/Dice doesn't feel like giving anything to good SL's except for a mobile spawn point and the ability to VOIP with the commander and request supplies, artillery, UAV, etc.

That, in my opinion, is total garbage. Why shouldn't I be rewarded with an average of the points my squad earned if I'm doing my job well?

If this game is intended to be a battle simulation (arcade style, nonetheless), why doesn't EA/Dice implement something like a SL rotation if the SL dies? Think about what happens in a real life situation. If the SL dies, the next highest rank takes on the responsibility of looking out for the squad. Instead of leaving a squad hanging out to dry with no way of getting new players to spawn on their location (without leaving/rejoining the squad), the squad will simply fizzle out before accomplishing the objective causing them to have to spawn at the nearest secured flag.

Thank you so much, EA/Dice for disabling squad hopping, but not rewarding good SL's for a job well done.

Yeah i have always wondered why squad leaders didnt get some type of bonus for doing a good job. We now have a bigger reason to have a bonus as squad leader has become more important now, regardless of what some may say. One can only hope this can be added in a patch if we bitch about it long enough? :P

If a team has ONE flag left, it encourages spawn camping by the other team since you can't spawn on a squad leader. It encourages the other team to just camp and kill you as you spawn OVER and OVER again. There is no need for them to cap the flag since NO ONE can spawn ANYWHERE but the 1 flag. You can't spawn on the one squad leader that may have snuck away anymore.
