Just have it where once a squad leader leaves, everyone in the squad is tagged with the inability to spawn on the SL until they die at least once and respawn elsewhere.

Much eaiser to remove spawn functions while dead, then back it up with a little logical code for first spawn per round. That way an SL can't leave while dead. Issue dead.

OR build squad cycling in as a feature and automaticly hand off the SL position to the highest ranking LIVE player in the squad.

Man, I wrote 'em some perfectly fine psudo code about a month ago.

ummmm Teamwork is to keep your SL alive and hidden... As a squad member you have a job to do in the team... its to take the flag, protect the SL, and not compromise their position...

People are right pub play is waaaay different if I got a penny everytime my squad sat behind me waiting to charge... which is not going to happen.

As a SL I ALWAYS stay back and find hidding spots, and move when my squad respawns for one cycle.

As a defender, its YOUR job to hunt down the SL and take him out, once that is done taking care of the rest of the squad is easy.

Just to clarify, I was being sarcastic in the above quote. Just for good measure I guess. Thought someone might get a laugh out of it.

BTW, I've know what teamwork is for months.
Staying hiddin as a SL is nearly impossible, unless the enemy commander is retarded. Before/during flag drops your gonna eat artillary if you stay still. Its best to stay with squad untill the flag goes neutral and move off afterwards this way commander cant single you out(via scan).

See teamwork comes in different styles. Thats what makes this game so great.

Well, there is not much of a choice for deas Squad Leaders here... they have to walk anyway. But there (still!) is the benefit of keeping the spawn point at the front or the enemy's back or wherever by "handing over" leadership. Plus, in BF2 there is not much of a benefit to be had from Squad Leadership anyway, other than being able to call in artillery and supply drops (and now the vehicles).

With this being said, what is it that bothers you so much about it? I dont really care if someone thinks its an exploit or not, it was a mechanism within the game that was used to allow for a sustained attack on a position. If that is an exploit, then they might as well can the entire game in one fell swoop, instead of "nutting" it patch by patch.

not really, it was quite silly to have a constant gang of 5-6 people respawning in 15 seconds and coming to charge you again.

So you dont play on clan servers because you dont like rules in general it seems. Half if not just over half of the Ranked server income comes from clans that pay to play on a server and have pub all-stars like yourself join in if you want. Obviously you have no interest in competitive online gaming, that is fine. I mean, it sure isn't for everyone, but please hold back your sanctimonious BS about competative gaming and what it is about until you have played a couple seasons in TWL or CAL. In the end you wont come off as sounding so hollow.

I am astounded that the pubbing community likes the squad change. In a few hours of pubbing today I have rarely had a squad leader alive long enough to actually spawn on him. They might as well remove the squad system altogether.

Eh. I enjoy the new squad system. It promotes a bit more teamwork as you have no reason to leave your squad until you're able to spawn on your squad leader.

Also, it alows the squad leader to be the "center" of the assault, supported by Medics, Anti-Tank, whatever whatever.

I think dice did an overall good job with it. Although, I only played like a fraction of a round of vanilla just to see the patch at work; so my opinion is based on limited playtime with the new features at best. I'm back into PRMM. BF2 is just lacking all together in my eyes...

I cant believe the amount of idiots on here lol. If your defending a flag you can spawn every 15 seconds, so why shouldnt the attacker!!! Thats what made infantry matches so much fun, the constant ability of 1 person turning into 6 at a blink of an eye. Fast paced furious action rulez on this game. Im sorry but keeping the squad leader alive and all that bollocks is *ull****. This game is not a accreate account of a war simulator lol, and neither is it tring be. Its made for FUN, to HAVE FUN. I've found that soon as people get good and learn how to become skilled at some aspect of the game, EA/DICE with the noobs comes in and takes it away and changes the whole gameplay of the game.

And a BIG F*CK YOU to the public who justify the damn right F*UCKED UP moves by EA/DICE with there ********. This is why ive always said there should be some kinda skill level shown on the server (Server discresion) so Idiots can play with idiots, novices with novices, clans with clans etc etc). This should have been a server option to choose i agree, not forced upon us. Clans pay for over 50% of the servers easily and the rest are sponsered. People who just buy the game and moan that they are **** and someone owns them all the time need to jip up and shut up. I dont see them giving any $ to the community and supporting BF2 as a francise. And what do we get in return, Kicked in the teeth and abuse from straglers!!! I know when im been mounted from the rear and i tell EA go F*CK THEMSELVES!!!!

All top clans are leaving the game now and many will follow. See what EA think when the server revanue starts to windle away. Then again, Sponsers will keep them happy. EA Dont give a F*CK about Community Support, Simple, $ speaks to them!!!!

This is how me and my friends have been playing more or less since day 1. It was actually funny to see streams of guys squad cycling and just running out to get mowed down, while my squad would wait to group up before making an attack, and would always try to help keep the squad leader alive. Plus a good squad leader in a hiding/sniping spot can really make a difference. I recommend medic, but sniper and AT work too. something that can be effective at a distance. as for artillery, I find I got away most of the time, since I was alone, usually the commanders go for the few guys bunched up together infront of me, not just 1 lone guy. And if they do, good for the commander, he took out a squad leader, but not the other 5 guys in the squad, sure I gotta walk back, but I don't mind it (especially with car drop), and then a few guys can spawn on me if they die while I'm walking back to the objective, and we make another push if need be. Plus wasting artillery one 1 person, thats a big waste.

The pace is different, but it's the pace i'm used to, it's a little more like AAO or a clancy game, which in my eyes will just force people to not rush in head first for the easy kill rather it's about staying alive for the safer kill. people might actually want to use cover a little more now.

Right on buddy, this patch is made only and only for noob community that care only about stats and medals. Clan community is gonna die within days. Its like a virus, yesterday 3 clans, today 2000, tomorrow all of them. only community servers willl be alive and full of stats padders, knifing&reviving eachoter and hauling for vehicle drop.

I for one, will quit playing this game.

Not being able to join a squad when you're dead is an awful 'feature'. I wasn't a squadhopper, but the new system has created the really annoying issue that if you join a server when a game is already in progress you can't just join a squad and get into the thick of it, and also, on those rare occasions when its 'last man standing', he can't create a squad to and let people join to keep the game going. All because some people are too girly to deal with a reforming squad. Its also going to wreck maps like Wake and Iron Gator.
