I don't know how DICE will implement the change, but odds are good that once a solo pilot switches to gunner position, the chopper will just fall from the sky... in which case you might get away with one 100-yard shot before having to retake control of your helo at average flying heights.

I see patch 1.3 as the end of my solo career: I'll either have to

1- rely solely on my hellfires (which I can use extremely well) or
2- play with my designated gunners/pilots at all times.

Otherwise, random pilots/gunners will be the same as it is now: a f*cking blood pressure increasing experience.

Sloi, you remain one of the few vocal soloists that I have a bunch of respect for. Back when you admited that a good full crew can/should own soloists, you increased your stock way about the "I'm so leet I'll own everyone" smack-tard crowd.

A little tip on dealing with random gunners;
Make sure you play on servers that have VoiP enabled. As soon as you get in the cockpit, make a new squad. When someone gets into the gun seat, invite 'em to your squad. Having that line of communication can make all the difference in the world. I've trained noob gunners this way and have also discovered that people I assumed were noobs just weren't seeing what I was seeing (and I was expecting them to kill). Even if communication is only one way, it still beats the crap outta banging your head on the keyboard.

(If forgot to mention that some folks are just too damned retarded to join your squad and thus, I have no sympathy for any abuse heaped upon them)

However, even worse is when YOU get in the gunner seat with a nub pilot who doesn't know a damn thing. I'll sit there and spot helo's, tanks, APC, infantry all day and they'll just fly around as if I'm not even there. I'll even invite them in my squad, talk to them, and of course they won't have a mic. Then we get TV'd time after time because I can't even get a shot. That is the most frustrating instance that I come across in this game.

Ok solo attack chopper pilots, you can have cake or you can eat cake, not both.

1. You can fly solo and become an uber armor killing machine, but then you can not camplain about all the noob choppers since you never let anyone in your chopper. How would you know how many gunner are noob and how many are good if you just try to spin off anyone that comes close to the chopper before you give them a chance. Also, if you out of bounds TK every gunner that misses a TV missle shot, how is anyone going to get any better at it. By killing off every noob with out giving them a chance to practice, you are ensuring that there will be many many noob for the rest of your BF2 experience.

2. If you do try to help gunners, give them a chance before TKing them and don't spam "Get out!" everytime some one jumps in the chopper, then by all means complain away. One elite solo chopper pilot will never be as effective as two pilots with half the skill working together.

What does it matter anymore? With the 1.3 patch if a pilot switches to the gunner's seat the chopper will drop like a friggin rock. This is mostly a problem of the "Pub All-Stars" Find yourself a decent server to play on that has active admins and not stat whores.

You know what I do when that happens ? I just bail out! :laugh:

I hate spotting enemy ACs, only to have the pilot ignore them... and I can just imagine the smirk on their faces as they're targetting us. I just jump out and look up to see the helo get blown up. Good times...

I prefer being the gunner. I'm not top-notch when flying a chopper, but I can wreak havic when I have an excellent pilot who can line up TV missle shots on tanks and put me around the sides of bases to take out all the little ants on the ground with guns :ar15:

I once was in a chopper with a great piolet. I ended up getting more kills that him. :evil::laugh:

agreed, if i dont have to fire a single rocket the entire round, that makes me happy. It is just rare to get a gunner that can gun worth a damn.

Totally agree, this should be the example everybody here should follow. Teamwork is what Battlefield 2 is all about, if you dont like this, then you shouldnt be playing multiplayer games and should stick to throwing a ball against a wall, on your own!

For all you children moaning about "Noob Gunners", I didnt realise you were born from your mothers womb with these skills installed pre-birth. congratulations!

As a clan pilot, I think BF2 is even more about teamwork than say your average pubber... But the team I fight and train for is my clan...
Publics are my trainingfield...

Luckely I have a fast computer setup and am usually the first to spawn...
This allowes me to often take off solo, hoping nobody will spam the 'requesting pickup' behind me...

If they do, I will wait or pick them up, but if they don't, then it is practise time, for my clan...

Everyone talking about how BF2 is all about teamwork, try a clan...
Clanmatches are nothing like publics...

No kicks, no teamkills, no punishes, no waiting on repairpad for your turn...
And when you win or loose, you win or loose as a team...

Sounds attractive, doesn't it..?

Why is it 99% of gunners for me always suck ass and I can over directly over an enemy and they dont see them and just stand there like a stupid goof and do nothing. Its annoying.

I'm 1st sgt and i'm terrible with the tv guided missiles. I'm not bad with the gun, but i have never really had that much practise.
