    Age: 44
    Accuracy: 22.29

Yes, I think I've slowed down some. Although I'm often AT using the DAO-12 so that may lower my accuracy rating. My 14 yr old son plays and can aquire targets easier than I can and think/play faster it seems. But at times I'm on the same server as him on oposing teams, we'll hunt for each other and I can often beat him tactically which is just experience.

But in my defense, he has a 6800GS to my X1600 so I like to blame that. And I really need to get new glasses. And I work on computers all day so my eyes are tired by the time I get home. And.......

      Re: Age Vs. Twitch ability.

as a premed student studying the physiological basis of aging, I think I am the authoritative sources on this one.

effect of aging on "twitch ability": mainly due to change in vision
      - field of view decreases
      - critical flicker frequency decreases
      - lower visual acuity under low contrast condition (say a sniper in the bushes).

However, those changes don't kick in until over 60.

This arcade game is not designed for the mature experienced player, or to simulate RL, you can stalk, & shoot your prey like a deer, but you usually have to hit them 3 times, very often you get 2 hits on a guy, & then they turn around w/ their quick reflexes, & shoot you, or you get hit from somewhere else

It was designed to "level the playing field", if they didn't, some ppl would never make a kill, & some ppl would never die

A good gunman should be able to walk in a room, & shoot 3 guys who are caught off guard 1, 2, 3, but in this kiddie style arcade game every 1 of those guys gets 3 chances, you have to make 9 hits to kill them (GOOD LUCK)

Yes indeed, this game was n00bified from the beginning, IRL you get shot, & that's it, only the small trauma plate in the front of your armour will stop a rifle bullet from killin' you, & you will still most likely be "incapacitated"

I wish I had the resources to bring a mod to the communtity, my version would be called BF2 RL

        imho

        peace:)

No i sometimes just sit there and shoot to the sky...if waiting for something to spawn

In a low ping server, i get one shot kills, second shot for each is because i am usto playin on our teams server, 100ping, and it would take atleast 4 shots for someone to hopefuly die.

About taking out 3 people right away, the AK101 is the best, i shot down an alleyway, and took out 3 support guys with one clip as they all dived to the ground.

I found out that bf2 is like life, sometimes you win sometimes you lose. I drunk alot while I first got the game and was having fun at it, and then I notice other people's kdr and got upset. But I finally realize, I don't care because as long as you are having fun, that's all that matters. People are so worry about stats , I think it takes the fun out of it, at least that's what happen to me at first, but then I seen the light and take it as it is. We all get older and maybe we lose somethings, but at the end it's only a game.

Couldn't agree with you more. Stats and medals are powdered sugar on the cake's frosting--totally redundant and just for show. Anyone playing this game to get stats/badges/unlocks in order to throw it in the face of the opponent hasn't really sat down with Mom and Dad lately. Get back to what is real and important in life. Your stats and unlocks could evaporate with a server meltdown or natural disaster (assuming no backups). If that is something that would put you into clinical depression, it's time to reevaluate life.

I say just play to have fun, get to know the community, and try to play while sauced once in a while. A worthwhile experience.

                  Re: Age Vs. Twitch ability.

But really, how many people want to play like RL? We want instant spawn anywhere, and one hit kills but only for us, magic crates that fix tanks, and utility belt force fields. That's why BF2 is popular- we can die over and over again while drinking beer and eating Cheetos!

I wonder- in countries where armed services duty is manditory for a couple years, just how popular are war games? I mean when you've actually been shot at, rocket attacks, seen your buddy cut in half, or lost a limb in war yourself in real life? Are war games popular in war torn countries, or is it almost all centered in the U.S. where 90 percent of the population has only had a paper cut and watched ER on TV? I'd like to see a study on that.

Totally agree. Proud Master Seargent here. No time to be running around trying to chase girl scout ribbons.

I do enjoy stats if you use them to monitor your play. I don't play to improve the stats. I try to improve my play and use stats as an indicator. As well there are a great many deeds one can do on the Battlefield that will give you little points and glory but are sacrificial and necessary to the cause of victory.

BO Topic, What are you gentleman with really good accuracy doing? Are you running around on singlefire? Do you only engage close up with short bursts? Curious if you have any tips.

                      Re: Age Vs. Twitch ability.

Your question is flawed if BF2 is involved.

I was an avid cs player for about 4 years. I had twitch down to a science, and played with deagle/awp. Because you could eliminate mouse acceleration.. you could test your twitch skill and accuracy.

Thing is.. with BF2.. you HAVE mouse acceleration ( ive tried EVERYTING and cant turn it off. View my post regarding this ).

When Mouse acceleration is involved.. there is no such thing as a twitch kill or accuracy. ( or at least it cant be judged properly. ) You can check your overall EFFECTIVINESS, but not the earlier 2.

Im 29. Started playing cs at around 23 and was CAL level for at least 2-3 years. I could easily run a map 30-0 due i had twitch skills, i new the maps, the hiding spots, and was good with ak, colt, and awp.

In BF2... due to mouse acceleration, any up close battle.. and the acceleration gets me killed ALL the time. I ALWAYS respond to quickly.. and i end up doing a 180 instead of a 30 degree change in where i wanna fire.

Alcohol does help me... due it keeps me focused to a certain point. Once im down half a bottle of jack ... then its a total disaster. lol.

If you could eliminate mouse acceleration in this game.. im sure ALOT of players would perform better on ground attacks.

Overall.. i do find that as i get older.. i get wiser, and im a hell of alot harder to kill in game. I find i dont run and gun as much.. but rather sit and think before heading in.

Ive had the game for just over a week and havent played a FPS game in years. I went 17-1 yesterday as a sniper with my only death due to running up to get ammo and getting caught in an arty round.

                        Re: Age Vs. Twitch ability.

                        Age: 19

                        Accuracy 23.56%
                        SPM 1.6872
                        K/D Ratio 1.4251

In Medal of Honor and Call of Duty I used to be a VERY good player (KDR 2-3 and biggest KPM) but now I'm just a bit better than average playing infantry (1.06) I think its becouse there is a lot a raping whore, situation where you just cant win. and suicides also (630 so far lol).
So the point is that BF2 is a bit different game and infantry players wont get as many kills (IN GENERAL) than in other non-vehicle based games.

Alcohol makes your reflexes wors, but your aim better think about it...

Age does not affect realy your reflexes only if you drink too much imho.
My stepfather (53) has so amazing reflexes that would bet you any time in ping pong or other reflex-based sport... (eg. box )

Well the other thing I wanted to say that BF2 IS NOT A REFLEX BASED GAME!!!! Use your minimap and call for UAV and have good headphones so it will not matter at all if your reflexes good or not. Lets say you when you see an enemy you shoot him in 0,1seconds (thats pretty good) but you have 100ping and he has also 100. So it will take 300ms insted of 100ms to hit him. Think about it

Use Logitech SetPoint to turn off the mouse acceleration or use a .reg file. Its simple...

Honestly, arcade is fun (I loved UT04), & RL is fun, but I would like a more RL experience than BF2 but not as slow as AA
