I'm also playing at 1680x1050 with no problems on my 21" wide although in order to achieve that 'widescreen' effect, the top and bottom of the screen is cut off

PB will not do anything because you're actually seeing LESS in +widescreen 1 mode.

Is it worth it (if you're seeing less)?

I have a question -- does it matter if you put +widescreen in the target if you're already forcing the widescreen res (eg 1680 x 1050)? Is there a difference if leave it at +fullscreen?

EDIT: Okay, I've just read up on some massive past threads and it's my take there's NO difference if I put "widescreen" versus "fullscreen" in the target line, beyond the forced 1680 x 1050 resolution.

So let me ask this... Is there a fine line between visual quality versus FPS over-kill? In other words, am I less _competitive_ if I have AA set to 4x (or 6x) and run at 50 - 60 fps instead of running with AA off and getting, say, almost 100 fps? Those are arbitary fps examples, but probably not too far off. ...Am I a more lethal player playing with a huge FPS number, or a more lethal player with all visual settings on high (so long as the FPS doesn't drop below some manageable number)?

I just purchased a dell 2405 FPW (24 inch). I have tried to change the command lines and still get booted every time i start BF2. Would it help if I uninstalled BF2 and reinstalled? This is giving me a friggin headache.

It depends of your system, i can assure you that over some certain resolution, the FPS drop is drammatic. I'm running @ 1920x1200 ...because i want to use for what i've paied to (my monitor, my vidcards), but with a powerfull system SLI 7800gtx i cannot run it at full sets, or it fall to 30 FPS. I think 50/60 FPS *IF IT IS A DECISION* it's the lower limit, don't go lower on purpose.

This is sweet, the image isn't streched (1680x1050).

You need to delete your Bf2 settings folder. You might want to back up your screenshots and your controls.con file first.

delete the contents of My Documents\Battlefield 2

Actually just figured out what that command line does, it makes it that thinks like your gun and hands are squished and look normal, but the image is still streched. Meh, looks better then just running it at 1600x1200 streched and I can see the whole L85A1 (pretty gun).

they wont add widescreen because it gives widescreen users an unfair advantage from what ive heard, because they have more peripheral vision

Yeah, and what about all of the XB360 games that you can play online?

People are playing on both widescreen and regular 4:3 screens, right?

In this day and age, widescreen should be supported...no excuses.

All you see is a stretched view, nothing more since the Battlefield 2 can't handle other ratio's then 4:3

So nothing special except it's a ugly image.
