Re: 1.3 patch, radio should have been fixed

Spotting is out of control & useless. It's also extremely annoying when a commander does nothing for an entire round but yell "Enemy infantry spotted!" 1500 times into your ears.

Problem is, we all get to hear about all the types of enemies out there because some people think that spamming the "spotted" calls adds to their score, or is absolutely essential to playing their role.

When I'm playing assault or sniper or spec ops or medic or support or engineer, do I care if an enemy jet is on the other side of the map, or if an enemy AA vehicle is annoying a helo 500 meters away?

My solution = subject the squadleaders to the commander's endless "enemy spotted" mantra, but free up the squaddies from his useless chatter. Whatever's important, the SL could hand on to his guys.

Contrary to what a lot of people seem to think, the ability to hear things happening around you is an important component of your situational awareness, and the benefit of having a commander call out non-UAVed enemies is vastly overshadowed by the benefit of actually being able to hear the environment around you.

My bottom line - commanders, please keep it quieter, call out emergencies only (like a back flag being capped or a spec ops team raping the assets), and give us UAV and supplies instead. Also, please please please stop dropping arty on us when we're trying to retake a flag that's just switched.

      I agree with the OP

You need to listen for footsteps and where gunshots are coming from, not the commander saying the same **** over and over.

I just checked my settings and found that I could turn down/off the commander by turning down the effects level. You'll find this option when you click "options' from the game menu bar, then select the audio option. There are three audio features you can control: 1) effects 2) music 3) voice over.
I turned off the commander completely by turning off the effects. I'm sure people can find a level to suit thier taste.

It's Wednesday already? LOL. I'd be happy if only your squad mates heard you spot. Because we all stick together as a team, right?
