I decided to give solo attack chopper piloting a go since everyone had said how easy it was. I loaded up into an empty server and practiced on stationary targets for awhile. Seeing as how I fly with a joystick, it took quite awhile to get the rythm down. But, after a couple hours, I could hit every target I aimed for without any problems. And, instead of hovering before going into the secondary seat, I would approach from above as that usually diminishes the spin effect by a lot.

After I was done practicing, I loaded up into a 64 slot server with only a few people and practiced against live targets. I hit only about 50% and was killed far more often by pilot/gunner combo choppers.

Just to make this perfectly clear, I don't mind that EA/Dice allows players to fly this way. The only thing I mind, and it was mentioned before, is that while in the secondary seat, AA cannot gain a lock. Hopefully this will be addressed as it is completely lame that people who do this have a "free ticket" out of AA jail.

By the way, chopper pilots who kill off their gunner by going out of bounds are perma-banned on the spot at MoonGamers Oman. Don't even think about doing that there.

Good to here, I always mentioned it on moongamers that it is easier to fly by yourself. Due to the fgs on Moongamers cant fly for shiot they think flying low to the floor is COOL..

I think you have to aim a bit over your target for the gunner to see it in their TV view. I try not to fly too low when setting up my gunner- that is unless I am trying to duck for cover.

There is a small rectangle showing the gunners view, where he is looking. Point at exactly inbetween that rectangle, and your crosshair to get a target dead even in the gunner's tv screen.

The point is that solo-piloting is easy, no communication needed, no teamwork needed, no lining up targets for the gunner, etc etc etc. It is lame, and TKing for self-centered purposes is the lowest of the low in BF2.
Even if I were piloting with an absolutely useless gunner, I would have the courtesy to try and teach them; and if all else fails- I just pull-over somewhere and 'politely' ask them to get out until they know how to be effective in an Helo. I never TK anyone for anything (then again I kill selfish TKing lamerts, as I once ran into a whole clan that was TKing helo and aircraft pilots for their own use- I went and made the rest of the round for them miserable).

NatureBoy', I'm sure you wouldn't mind then, if I tked you for your helo then just because I think you sucked. Come to think of it, I think your attitude and personality stinks too, so I reckon I'll tk you for your kit, your vehicles, and I'll just tk you anyway even if I have that kit already; just because I think you suck.

Wouldn't you just love it if EVERYONE was just like you?

A player with an attitude like yours is worse than a player who's noob or plain useless on the field.

This isn't a flame by the way, it's a principle of courtesy and honorable play. NatureBoy_Wooo (And anyone like him, like the lame Helo pilot) is, as far as I'm concerned, deserving of any TK done unto them.

For the fact that helos are slower than jets, and less the air-to-air power; there are tactical and strategic maneuvers and positioning to compensate when it comes to helo vs. jet.

Though it'll be relatively hard for me to hit a jet with the helo, even with a gunner, I can make it equally difficult for a jet pilot to hit me, unless he manages to find an opportunity to suicide me.
Flying a helo requires more cunning and tactical finesse than jets (due to their speed-to-maneuverability ratio and communication/teamwork intensive weapons system). Plus, I don't like jets anyway- they can't accomplish more than what a helo could in one pass of the map

Jet pilots are so bad these days, when I'm in a chopper they're more pestillince instead of a problem. It's always the same: They come at you from about 50-100 meters away, don't use guns, and try to fire missles through your flares. repeat.

Gets extremely annoying after a while. I just wait for em to slow down (NEVER DO THIS WHEN HUNTING CHOPPERS) and then put a TVG in their tail
