    PS3 Info & Prices

PS3 will be release in November for $500 with a 20GB HDD.

    ===========================================

    Update:

Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) announced today that it would launch PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3) in "Clear Black" in North America on November 17, 2006, as part of a worldwide simultaneous launch. PS3 is the most advanced computer system that serves as a platform to enjoy next generation computer entertainment content in the home, realized through the combination of Cell and RSX(TM) processors, in addition to the playability of a vast catalog of PlayStation® and PlayStation®2 software titles.

Having Giga-bit Ethernet and a pre-installed hard disk drive (HDD) as standard in PS3, users will be able to download a variety of content as well as access on-line games and services over the network. Equipped with basic input/output ports, PS3 supports a broad range of displays from conventional NTSC/PAL standard TVs to the latest full HD (1080i/1080p) flat panel displays, offering the joy of the most advanced computer entertainment content to homes around the world. For use in living rooms, maximum heat and noise reduction has been achieved with a noise level equivalent to that of the current slim-line PlayStation 2.

How'd you get this? Its a day from E3, so i would think that they would announce then... If you're right, you get kudos, though.

and 600 bucks for a 60GB system, plus there is a new controller which looks almost identical to the PS2 controller, only with Bluetooth and motion sensitvity (think revolution controller)

I'm so glad they stuck with the controller style. The PS pads have always been the most comfortable for me. But %$*)@, that's expensive. Gotta save up over the summer.

            P.S.:
i find it funy that nintendo stole my tv remote lol

God that conference was bad! I did not instill and hope or excitement in me for the PS3 at all. I was almost embarrassed...

                    Re: PS3 Prices

When Sony gave out the specs on the PS3 earlier tonight, the company mentioned that there would be two configurations: a $500 version with a 20GB hard drive and a $600 edition with a 60GB drive. Turns out that was only half the story. Yes, that pricing and storage info is accurate. But it turns out that there are a lot of other things missing from the lower-end (we can't bring ourselves to call a $500 console "cheap") version, besides an extra 40GB of storage. According to the specs released by Sony, the 20GB version will lack WiFi, a memory card reader and, most significantly, HDMI output. While you could probably get along without WiFi in a home-based console that already has Ethernet, and you can always presumably hook up a memory card reader via one of the unit's four USB ports, the lack of HDMI output makes this pretty much a non-starter for anyone hoping to actually use the PS3's Blu-ray drive for anything more than playing games. Sure, we can understand Sony not wanting to undercut sales of its own dedicated Blu-ray players by offering the $500 PS3 as a cheaper alternative. But if the company was hoping to use the gaming platform as a way to build a base of fans for HD discs, chances are the strategy is going to backfire the first time someone tries playing a Blu-ray flick in their 20GB version and discovers that the unit's lack of HDMI limits them to analog 1080i output (or worse, depending on a disc's use of HDCP).

lets wait till the people e3 come back with some sensible reviews as its going to be there and playable.

if its better that the 360 then its worth the money.

I can't wait. I'm gonna start saving up now, should have enough by the time it's out.

I remember when PS2 came out, it was pretty expensive on release then too. So, things aint really changed.

                          Re: PS3 Prices

Well the thing is that you buy a playstation because it has so many exclusive titles. MGS, Gran Turismo, God of War, GTA, Devil May Cry etc. I don't think I will buy one this year, maybe only when MGS4 gets released and I have a full time job.

                          Edit:
cross out GTA, seems M$ bought another company and GTA4 will be xbox eclusive.

                          Edit 2:
Seems the xbox version will only have some extra content online that is exclusive, Moore is trying to play with peoples mind.

GT5 mmmmmm see thats the reason consoles exist... proper driving games and fighting games like tekken of course.

still i dont know why everyone seems to think its a high price.. you wouldnt think twice about payin that sort of money for a cpu or a graphics card would you ?

$500= £270 got to love the exchange rate atm

little advice. do not buy the 360 man . i waisted $400 on that POS and most of the games sont look much better than the Xbox. and yes i have an HDTV to drive it properly.
