Thats not expensive, considering i got my PSP for like £200, so £70 more for something like this is for me a bargain...

The new PlayStation 3 (PS3) will hit Japanese stores on 11 November, with the US and Europe following less than a week later, Sony has announced.

The console will come in two versions starting at $499 in the US and 499 euros (£341) in Europe.

Sony announced the prices on the eve of the E3 games expo in Los Angeles.

The system with a 20GB hard drive will cost $499 in the US, while a model with a 60GB drive will cost $599. European pricing is 499 and 599 euros respectively.

Final pricing in the UK has not been set, but the top model would probably retail at about £425, said Ray MacGuire, of Sony UK.

ARGHHH!! I wanted one but now i guess not...$500 is too expensive for something that you only play when you are with friends...single player gets boring after you beat it in one day...

How will PS3 online work?? Will we have to pay for it after paying $500 for the thing itself...

Well you should know at 35 but the reason is because America is made up of 50 countries, so since they are so big compared to the UK there taxes are much lower then ours, because of the size difference and because lets see we have Game with shops spread over UK but then you have America which has say RadioShack 1000's of them all over the place = bigger business and more business so they can afford to charge less since they are getting enough profits, while say GAME is getting profits yeah but not as mass profits, it also depends on the GNP and population, alot of people in our country are immigrating to Spain and whatnot which means if alot of people are moving away taxes go up and retail prices go up. It's the same with everything I mean you do the math $500 is roughly £270. So thats why and because the people our country is run by :laugh: <<< yes. So they put the taxes up and all the taxes getting spent on some good things but other pointless uneeded things and also things like asylum seeker housing . But better not start a big debate.

well at 16 i would have thought you knew that america was made up of ONE country and 50 'states'

one of the reasons thier taxes are lower is they dont have an NHS to pay for. bigger bussines also means larger transport costs too, so take that into consideration.

now the silver tops who leave to live in spain ?? i dont think are the target audience for the ps3 either so we can take them out.

lots of people are not leaving this country either im interested to know why you think they are... are they leaving scotland ? if indeed they were this does not have a direct result on taxes rises (if only economics was so simple)

taxes have top go up to pay for pesion shortfalls and the aging population not to mention breast cancer patients taking the NHS to court for Herceptin which costs 22 grand of so for a 12 month course now that money can be better spent elsewhere (such is the way the NHS is forced to think now)

asylum seeker housing ? lets not go all BNP on this....

lets for a minute consider the dollar the euro difference (for the top of the line one coz thats what we all want issnt it )

USD599 = 321.48
EUR599 = 409.44

so taking the UK out of the picture sony seem to think that the entire of europe should pay more for the privalige of owning a PS3... i think its bang out of order and sloppy marketing its almost like 'er ok like lets say 599 whatevers in every country ok dude' we all know there is no real difference in the units themselves.

You gotta remember also, that if you import one from the States the prices will intially be high because of demand, and factor in the cost of shipping + insurance.

Also, I guess you'd have to buy US region PS3 games. Unless you could get the console chipped, and if you can get it chipped, I don't have a clue about that stuff but I imagine Sony put in new protection against it.

I expect they'll be a delay before it is released in Europe, like usual. First Japan, then USA, then us. No fair!

Fair enough that was a typo, I replied to this at about 2am last night, anyway you agree with me that the government sucks, and yes asylum seekers get there free housing, it was in the newspaper not so long ago as well so im not talking crap, tell me wheres my free housing?

first off and on topic .... sod the price ive just watched the sopy press thing and gran turismo 5 has bikes in ! thats sold the whole thing for me now PS3 FTW ! tekken 6 looks lush n all

also.... you belive what you read in the papers ? not clever that... remember those abuse pics take in the back of a truck in iraq ?? they were fakes...

ill agree our form of goverment is the worst there is. apart from everyone elses !

lastly your only 16 why do you want a free house ?

dont expect one either..society does not owe you a living ! go out get a job and earn one like the rest of us ! half the trouble with the 'asylum seekers' and 'economic migrant' debate is that they are prepared to come here and work for a living unlike the bulk of our professional unemployed who prefer to spend thier dole on burburry and thieve off honest workers while they are out earning them thier dole. if people over here were prepared to get off thier arses and do a days work then people wouldnt have the jobs to come here for.

I do have a job, and no I don't listen to all of the newspapers im just saying that, it was an article, now don't get me started because I could tell you a ton of things to back up my statement.

Oh yeah and for those military pictures, that happens, people throwing rocks and boulders at troops in Iraq, they are there doing there job trying to help that country and they get crap like that? so Iraqi's are allowed to assault the troops with minor objects but the troops cannot retaliate pshh.

A free house? no im not asking for one im just saying, when im a little older will I get free housing? exactly im not sponging off the government and I wouldn't ever go on the dole period. Society does not owe me a house no it doesn't but I expect it to be equal for everyone else no matter what race or religion.

Don't even tell me that immigrants JUST come over to work, yeah yeah they do, the polish come over here in 1000's to take the crappy jobs that most brits don't want to do, okay so yeah now they have the bad jobs but there not stupid people, just wait a little while, you will see polish doctors soon, univercity and high paying jobs will be full, leaving the next generation of brits at a battle for a respectable job.

People go to Univercity and now after they finish there degree or what not they are in debt by around 12k, why? because foreigners came over a while back and took courses got there qualification and went back to their country dodging the debt.

So, you have your oppinions and I have mine but you know the reality like it or not.
