Even if you do some careful planning, things can change and new titles may come out on the other box and not yours. With the X360, you can't really go wrong. It's cheap, powerful, has the 2 biggest titles, and has already been cracked. It's the ultimate media center for only $300. It still needs a mouse and keyboard, but I'm sure there's something that will come up.

You said earlier you can go wrong with anything, and now all of the sudden you can't go wrong with the 360? Have you changed your mind?

I would love to buy a PS3 at launch, but in reality I can't justify spending £425 on a games console, no matter how good it is.

I will buy one though, probably months after launch when the prices begin to drop.

lmao you actually think prices will drop? psp has been out since september thats over 8 months and its still £180, and the 360 has been out since November so thats over 6 months and its still £280 so the PS3 you will have to wait no doubt over a year or more for it to lower by a little.

You cant just generalize that the ps3 overall will be bad. That article you posted clearly stated that the low-end($499) doesnt support 1080p. The high-end($599) does. That certainly doesnt mean the ps3 in general will be bad, only for the suckers that would by the low-end to begin with.

I like the playstation company and their products, but if PS3 costs that I might just buy a X360 instead. I have watched and played fight night round 3 and its amazing, period.

*yawn* the PS3 does have 1080P.... in fact im going to make it easy for you here ... ive copied a bit off your beloved IGN

                          E3 2005: PS3 to Output 1080p Standard
                          An HD revolution.
                          by Ivan Sulic

May 16, 2005 - Among one hundred billion other bits of technical information, we recently learned that the PlayStation 3 will be capable of outputting a 1080 progressive scan image.

Very few pieces of media currently support 1080 progressive scan display. For reference, Apple recently announced that it would release new movie trailers in 1080p format, provided gamers used their new Quicktime application. Additionally, a couple of movies (namely Terminator 2) support 1080p.

While a lot of televisions do not currently support the ultra high-end format, it's great to see Sony looking way into the future for its next system.

UPDATE - 6:22PM - We have just been updated by our away team at the SCEA conference that not only will 1080p be supported by the system, but that this is considered the standard resolution for the system. Every game for the system will be in incredible, indelible, indubitable HD.

Nobody at IGN even owns a TV that can do 1080p, but that's the system's goal - to give HDTV a killer app piece of hardware that people will no longer be able to live without. Get your wallet ready...

the GTHD vid at e3 was 1080P, i think your confusing the 1080P dvd playback issues with the games support for 1080P resolution.... go read up on it and you'll find im right.

either way my mind is not made up my any means yet. i borrowed a 360 off a workmate last weekend and played it over the weeknd and i was quite impressed although i will say its damn noisy....

Sony to drop low-end PS3 from UK launch?

After all the delays and with so much rumor and hearsay going on over at the SCEA camp as to what shape the PlayStation 3's actually going to take this November (and what it is they're going to do to convince us to pick one up that doesn't involve low-balling us), for the time being we're a little leery of the kinds of things Sony's saying about this and that. But it's remarkably hard to argue when Ray Maguire, head of Sony Computer Entertainment UK, says something like: "The lower-end 20Gb version of PlayStation 3 has no WiFi, no HDMI, and none of the other slots in it, so it's... more likely that we will only launch the 60GB version." Saywha? The figure Sony UK's been tossing around for launch is £425 ($800 US), which -- we're sorry -- is hardly a bargain for any gaming console, equipped with Blu-ray or not. And with the premium UK and EU customers already pay on their gadgets, we can't even imagine why Sony would launch a single $800 version of the PS3 and expect people to cough it up. Then again SCEUK might recant and surprise us with a more reasonable launch price (and both console versions, as the rest of Europe should be getting), but if one thing's for sure, we smell a British gamer mutiny on their hands if they stay the course for a $800 UK launch.
