Re: Anybody try GhostRecon: Advanced Warfighter yet?
The graphics are nowhere near as good as the early concept art they passed off as screenies.
I wouldnt even call it next gen...more like gen and a half. The HDR "engine is just a tone mapper and thats it. I dont think it has any AA and it's texture filtering is naff.
As for it being realistic...it's not really.
Also the HUD is crazy. Really busy. Fair enough they might have this stuff in real life but in real life your vision isnt limited to a monitor or even a HDTV...so you have alot more space to put random crap like that.
It aslo has fairly subtle graphics that are totally bombed by the awefull outlines round everything that kinda take the fun out of the game cos its like paint by numbers...except that its very hard in parts even with those outlines helping you.
The camera angle makes it difficult to tell if your safe or not. I got killed loads from people that i couldnt actually shoot at because there was something in the way...or a few times where i couldnt see anything at all because the nightvision has a range of about 8 yards.
Some of the multiplay features are good.
But one thing that turned me off fairly early is how much they want the users to be able to adjust everything to their liking...why means one thing: every server you go onto is set up the way the admins like to play and theyre all different = crap.
