    Re: Smacktard chopper taxis

Well in the new patch, they are stopping choppers from flying when there is no pilot!

I believ this is due to people doing, 'One man TV'ing' so as soon as they hop in the gunners seat, it drives its self straight into the ground!

Much better i think, cos it wont take them to long to respawn if you need to jump out!

'DICE should implement a system where the pilot gets a teamkill if his crew members die due to collision in unmanned choppers.'

Why go to such lengths when all they would have to do is make it so that solo attack chopper pilots aren't immune to AA. That's the biggest problem with that tactic.

What do you mean immune to AA?

Pilotless chopper is "inactive" so AA wont lock on to it.

They could easily fix that. If the game engine senses someone is still in the aircraft (bomber, transport chopper, attack chopper), AA should still be able to gain lock.

I've also found them harder to shoot with a TV guided or as pilot with dumb missles from another attack chopper. The spinning move the chopper will make is harder to anticipate than most evasive maneuvers of manned choppers.

I think wasting a chopper that will respawn anyways to eliminate the enemy assests as quickly as possible is a worthy endeavor.

I would rather save 10-20 team mates from arty than kill a few people with the chopper before I get downed by AA.

You're ****ed that he got you killed not that he wasted the chopper.

Also, speaking of AA what ever happend to good old flak ?

I saw a guy load a chopper with C4 one day and saw him fly towards the MEC base on gulf of oman. Soon I discovered his intention. All he did was fly into the run way he got a ton of kills for flying into people and only one death. Needless to say he didn't stop their I saw from a plane first hand just what he was doing.. and it was pretty lame suiciding into people waste of a helo.

Man, I get killed tons of times when I play BF2. It's a part of the game, but in this case it's how I got killed that makes me so angry. He knew he had a gunner inside, yet he chose to bail at about 15 feet heading towards a mountain. He could have said 'Bail out' or maybe land nearby, but he chose to drive the bloody thing into a wall or rock. I don't care how you justify it - that's just retarded.

If he landed the chopper nearby the assets I wouldn't care at all. At least then I could retake the vehicle and use it for it's original purpose.

I'm stunned that people would side with this tactic.

Using certain vehicles as taxis is a good thing when its part of your team's strategy such as in a CAL match or scrim or something. But it is kind of stupid to do it on a pub w/o letting anyone know what you are doing. An example of a good taxi was when my clan was doing a scrim on Daqing oilfields 64 player size, and part of the strat for the Chinese side was to take the 2 seater jet and one person in there makes a squad and then the jet flys over gas station, the SL bails and halo jumps to the flag and we all spawn in on him using delayed spawn and that flag was capped right after round started. An so yeah, using taxis is a good thing when there is strategy behind it, but not on pubs.

Kinda busy actually doing the gunner thing.

The part thats wrong here is that he didn't tell you...thats what I find stupid on his part...now if he was by himself then I wouldn't find anything wrong with that tactic at all.

It's definatley not good to use the attack chopper as taxi. If the chopper takes out AA it can get on to tanks/apc's and take out other attack copters as well. So if those assets get wasted like that people shouldn't be wondering why they get raped badly by the other sides vehicles.

On topic: Since the OP sayed the smacktard pilot was close to the ground he could have at least landed the chopper. Would've only taken him 1 or 2 sec.
