Very good responses, so far. Thank you all.

Some clarifications:

1. When I say non-static squads and commanders, there are some servers that will keep the same squads and commander of a team for the next round or map. While some people find this to be great, what happens when you have the only good squad locked or the commander was terrible? Better to start fresh each new round and let nature take its course.

2. I'm glad you recommended Tactical Gamers. While the devotion to team-based and goal oriented is definitely my play style, if I can't crack a joke or laugh at something, that's too serious. I'll give them a shot, but if they're too uptight I'll just excuse myself.

1. Squads on TG are carried over through rounds but commanders are not. However on TG almost every squad is very good with everyone working together so you'll actually prefer it this way after playing on the server a bit. TG is not like most pubs where there is only one good full squad that is actually functioning correctly.

2. Like any server it just depends who you play with. While the rules and command structure is setup so gameplay is tactical that doesn't mean everything has to be super serious. You can have a lot of fun and crack jokes all night while your playing. If one squad is not doing anything for ya try another one. Usually all it takes is finding that one guy who will chat back and joke with ya and the rest of the squad starts chatting as well.

(Disclaimer: My views may be biased because I am a BF2 admin at TG, but I also happen to like what TG does and donate monthly towards the cause)

Don't get me wrong, they are great people. They just were very serious when they played. No random chatter, no trash talking, no joking around. Come to think of it, it was pretty sweet. I guess I have come to expect more immaturity/goofing around from playing on pubbies all the time.

We don't tell "yo mama" jokes all the time and frown upon cursing over text chat or excessive screaming about random crap over voice chat, but we do try to have fun. If you're on TeamSpeak while you play you'll hear the occassional taunt and hear "good game" between rounds.

As far as admin concerns, we all play how we preach. We don't blow up your jet just because you got to it first, you won't see us hopping around the battlefield, we don't kick you because you kill us a lot (if I did that, there wouldn't be anyone left on the server! :laugh: ), etc. We're all pretty much on the same page as far as rules enforcement goes. We do treat |TG| tagged players differently -- they are held to a higher standard than a non-tagged player!

Static squads - we play 1 round per map, 250% ticket count, and a 60 minute time limit.. During that time, squad members can really start to work together and want to carry that on to the next round. With one of these patches, we were having squads cleared after each map and we had people kicking and screaming to have that "bug" fixed. They wanted to keep playing with the same teammates instead of breaking up what they had going.

Please note that our server is "full" at 62/64 players due to a reserved slot script we have in place for our supporting members. If you try to join while the server is full, you'll be kicked before you can join with that default teamkilling/vote message. Non-supporting members may also be kicked mid-round if the server fills up and a supporting member wants in -- take no offense, this is completely automated and not you being picked on by the admins.

Our servers aren't for everyone, and we know that, but we do have a pretty good group of regulars that enjoy what we do and how we play. Giving us a try for an evening or two (again in Phrag's case) can't hurt :)

Alas, I'm a West Coast gamer. I've been on some nice Euro servers, but the occasional lag spike puts my helo into a mountainside. Safe to say, my passenger is usually none too happy and is quick to punish the unintentional TK. I like to play it safe and stick to servers as far as Chicago.
