We were hacked. Several times over the past two weeks, in fact.
While all passwords are encrypted and salted, it's recommended that you change your password here when you can.
Must be a Karkand kinda player. Way more times than not I have been walking and walking and walking etc.... and every time I get close to a base it got capped and all vehicles are gone.
This will be a huge deal for snipers and AT kits.
I was thinking the same thing...must of never been stuck at a spawn on a 64 person Zatar map.
Air dropped vehicles: NO WAY !! Who the hell asked for this to be included??? Are EA passing around the crack pipe too much???
I think this will kill the game. silly, silly ,silly. I guess they will only be able to spawn vehicles that are already at a main base or something. But its still rubbish. I can also see its a patch against crims. No robbing the tank if its gonna be air dropped right out side the enemy base thats being attacked.
I think this patch will finally end my BF2 life -- time for mods methinks.
- Fixed bug where helicopters abandoned in the air will continue flying.
woot so this means no more single pilot choppers?!?!

actually, its most likely just going to be transport vehicles that are able to be dropped
spawning an apc or tank in the middle of no where or at an enemy's un-cap base is just asking for trouble
Added Deterrent system against alternitive ranking
Man... that's kinda vile.
If I'm reading it right, this is a step made to quash mods and force people to play on offical ranked servers if they want to make any stats progress.

This strikes me as flat out uncool.
Yeah, what do they mean by "alternative ranking system?"
Yeah, what do they mean by "alternative ranking system?"
Using a 3rd party application to make a non-offical local ranking system/DB.
ABR is the most popular currently. http://www.battlefieldranking.net/
Looks like EA just hauled off and kicked 'em in the nuts.
What's cool about alternative/local ranking is that it lets mods use ranks/points/awards and it's possible to set up privet ranking servers. Say, for custom maps or passworded clan servers. You could even host tournies that involve local ranking so players can earn unlocks while they compete.
Alternative ranking has NO impact on gobal/offical ranks. No information is passed between a locally ranked server and EA's stats servers.
The fact that it appears as though EA just intentionally blocked the feature is just... well... rude!
I was really having trouble believing the rumor.
Now we've got it from EA.
Wow.
They're prolly not going to say anything about squad tweaks until the last moment, tho.
Is this any vehicle or just the armored transports i.e. humvees and vodniks?
Because if we are talking about dropping APCs and tanks I can imagine a big problem here. Imagine dropping a Tank with a supply crate on the sharqi tv tower with multiple mec engs just raping the spawn....

Or a tank with a supply crate on the Aircraft Carrier...
