Qualities of a great BF2 player?

I sometimes make a habit of following/watching good players to enhance my battlefield skills/abilities. "Learn from the best" sometimes pays off, but mostly I've been disgusted how many "GOOD" players end up at the top of the leaderboard.
I was on Karkand the other day and noticed that one particular player was consistently at the top of the leaderboard. I followed him only to find out that he was one of the biggest spawn camping nade throwers I've ever met!!
Another player on the opposing team ALWAYS had high scores - tank whore parked next to multiple supply crates!
Other maps either the J10 or SU-34 pilots are ALWAYS top of the leaderboard for just spawn bombing greyed out CPs.

What qualities/skills do people think makes a GREAT BF2 PLAYER?

a Team player, doesnt care about there score or rank. And one that helps his team always and not just useing what ever he is useing just for himself.
And just becuse people are ontop of the leaderboard. dosnt mean they are the best. That just means that they prob found a fast way to earn points.

It would be funny if there were people learning from my gameplay, I play nonconsciously, meaning you would have to learn my moves by heart to be quick enough.

The best BF 2 players disregard their own scores and go for the team win. Some players, if they're good at what they do, are naturally inclined to score more - specifically fighter jocks and chopper pilots.

I look for team scores, sure. But, many is the medic that revives you in the sights of the same sniper that just killed you. That's not team play.

Usually the best players are in at a flag cap, or flag defense/recap. They're there right when they're needed. If there's enough folks surrounding the flag to cap it, this player will be on the perimeter covering them, and not getting any points for it.

This player also is IN A SQUAD, and spawns with what kit is needed at the time. If he/she's a squad leader, you'll find this player in a good, covered area for the squad to respawn and get quickly back into things...again at the expense of his/her own score.

In fact, high scores don't impress me. They only impress children. (Read: CHILDREN). You can tell when you're playing on a good team by how many tickets you win by and how fast. If you do it right, often times, the game is over so fast, score whores don't have time to run-up 70 or more points.

Usually, also, when stats on the squad of this "good player" show at the end of the game, he's in a squad where each member has generally the same amount of points.

I can understand attention to your score to get rank and unlocks. Past a certain point it becomes time to play TEAMPLAY and squad play. Good players understand tickets.

Not true. They are looking at you through the map (UAV) and they are waiting for you to pull out your knife and when they see you getting 10ft close they instantly make a 180&#186; turn and catch you mostly empty handed and shoot you up.

why am I suprised that people like CannonFodder don't make it through without a purple heart?

Nope you still don't quite get it, every round in a 32 player server there are 2 or 3 people hitting the "commander" button, and the most ranked person gets the position, so if he is good enough to have a high rank he probably knows how to UAV his team.

If your actualy one of those players who effect whether your team wins, it is likely you dont get very many points. Even though i dont rack alot of points i just have fun, and am glad to know that if it wasnt for me and my squad our team would have lost, it always makes me happy to see my squad as best squad on the team :). What makes a good squad leader is bieng the spawn point, providing cover fire, and making good decisions on which flags to attack. ALWAYS maintain comunication with your commander and squad mates, if you dont have a mic PLEASE DONT BE A SQUAD LEADER OR A COMMANDER. You have to be able to change your squad mates kits around depending on the situationk, you dont want to have a squad of 3 snipers and 3 Anti-tanks lol. My squads usualy consist of 2 medics(somtimes you only need 1) 1 Anti-tank 1 support, and rest special opps or assualt.I hate it when the commander doesnt tell me about flanking enemy units capturing flags behind us, that prety much what comander is for! to make sure the enemy hasnt breached the front! When theres a good comander that informs about the flanking enemy units, you can send a squad in a vehicle, eliminate the threat, and have a good fun game without flag hopping. and that is how i have the most fun in a bf2 game as a squad leader :).

I am a consistent low scorer, usually at the bottom or near the bottom. I think I average around 0-10 points a match.

I'm either being squad leader and acting as their mobile spawn point or getting negative points for blowing up the opposition's assets (bug) or just spotting for assaulting troops as sniper. I'll jump in as Commander if no one else is doing it, but the tunnel vision a lot of players get frustrates me when I do that.

I'd *much* rather play with a good team, get low scores, and win than play with lone wolves, get high scores, and lose.

I was just wondering (this isn't sarcasm) how [STO]KillerDragon (very good stats by the way) gets to kill (-(LS)-)Darncool 38 times in a game?
I play my heart out and have never got more than 8 kills with 1 particular enemy player!

for the one who can wait through the loading times, the nubs who get tked on purpose, (sometimes) erratic ranking system, the delayed patches and the time it takes to earn the money to buy the "booster packs"/expansion

a hell of a lot more patience required than a guy who pubs in css
