Re: Helicopter Tutorials... Heli Guides... Hope they help

Well i must say this is a beauty of a thread. but this means ill probably have competant flyers after me now. This makes me sad.

while i basically knew all this already. I frequently get newbs in MY heli. Newbs that tv missle our planes(miss ofcoarse) chain gun the water like crazy. but then when your 3 inches from an enemy and regardless of weapon its a perfect shot. they dont shoot. or you get commander for gunner. He's thinking as if he gets kill assists it will make his score better. so you line him up for a kill and he never shoots because hes commanding. Hell commander doesnt even get a score for killing at all.

couple things though. while im usually p90 with AT rocket. i could basically shoot you no problem the speed ur circling at that distance. Hell on dragon valley. that TOW would put u down easily. and the height you keep is a bit low.

know wats real fun. when u tv missle a blackhawk and it goes straight thru the 2 doors. thats a pain.

Re: Helicopter Tutorials... Heli Guides... Hope they help

Have been watching these videos and find them very helpful. However, I notice that ArmyDr does not hide the inside of the cockpit, which I always do as I can see more. In his videos the gunners head alone obscures half of his view.

Why is this? If someone could answer this for me, i'd be very grateful. Thanks in advance.

He said in one of his videos that he does it for realism's sake.

          Lots of words.

Exactly, my methods. There is a differance between something taking skill to execute and doing things in a better way. For instance choosing the better route between point A and B. It takes the same ammount of skill to go down road B but road B is less dangerous.

I had spent hours practicing in the Cobra trying to master it and was totally frustrated. Your totorials changed all of that for me. Although I have a long way to go I am making good progress and have finnally acheived my first two combat kills. Thanks for your willingness to share your experience.

I could never hover until I read this guide, it's pretty sexy. After a second look on the maintaining a diameter, I realize taht you have to go from 0-60, accel - staying around 25ish most of the time. Before I was trying to stay at about 35 accel all the time and I didn't have control. Thanks

Like I said, I made these to help the community. I just hope at least one person benefits. Any comments or constructive feedback is always welcome.

P.S. most people already have it, but if you don't you'll need the divx codec. If you don't know whether you need it or not, download the videos and if they don't play then you need it. Go to http://www.divx.com/divx/play/download/ ...type in your email address and press download. After you have it downloaded, when you press install, simply install the codec, you don't need to install the player and other things.
Thanks ArmyDr. You've inspired me to give helis a go. I'll report back. I really appreciate the time you took to make these great tutorials.

I looked at videos #'s 2 and 3, and they helped my heli game a lot. Now, i realize why I die in dogfights when I barrel roll

GJ man, keep up the good work

Hell, we need some 'Before and After' shots of you man!

Yeah, trust me- practice is good, but also- be gunner sometimes, and with hope an elite pilot hops into the cockpit and shows you a few new tricks as well; in any case, never be afraid to do your own.

Start experimenting with barrel-rolls, you can learn what altitude is sensible enough for you to pull one off- for one, it's great for evading an opposing chopper in a face-off other than flying underneath him and spinning around, or a relatively decent maneuver for dodging TV missiles and what not. I personally use the barrel-roll to very quickly level with any armour below me- so that the gunner pretty much has a clear and point-blank TV missile shot at whatever I indicate to him.

With enough flying under your belt- everything will come very naturally; hovering, circling, diving (safetly), and very low flying where your helo just about touches the ground and runs over anything in your way (somewhat great for evading stingers, also acts like suppressing fire- as a lot of enemy troops freak out when an enemy suddenly appears from behind, right in their face, just get out of there before they wake up and all decide to shoot you).

This post is excellent.Just what I was looking for.For someone who is relatively new to the game, and needs to start flying the choppers and fighter -jets to crank up their global score and to learn to play the game to its fullest, this is a gem .
