I have it custom modded to 12/25/25 for plane, and 35/35/35 for helicopters. works great.

I have the twist setup right. Thats no problem. I guess more of my problem is when I roll left and right. I'll roll left and as soon as I want to fly straight again I roll right to counter-act the roll. This is when i get in trouble. I go flying all over the place. It makes me as sick as a kid with motion sickness on a swingset. Is there a better way to counter-act the roll.

I'm going to ask the OP a simple question first.
Do you have any understanding of how a helicopter moves?
How it handles? How it's maneuvered?

The reason I'm asking it this way is it seems to me there is possibly a lack of understanding in this area.
I've seen many times that people think all you have to do is move the stick in the direction you want to go and hold it there to continue moving. (Like normal WSAD).
They don't realize that (at least in BF2) you have to counter your movement so you don't 'over steer'.

For those of us who are experienced:
If you move the JS to the left and hold it, you will just do a barrel roll.
In order to 'slide' side ways you move the JS in the direction you want but then have to back off some to "even out" the movement. You will slide sideways but not roll completely.

It's kinda difficult to convey in writing but with practice you will find 'the touch'.

Plain and simple...you are over compensating for the roll.
        It's just inexperience.
As I said above, with practice you will learn how to 'feel' the movement and counter correctly.

Any advice(general flying, bombing runs for jets, etc) you vets have on learning to fly with a joystick?

Yes. Practice. I remember switching from keyboard/mouse to joystick back in Vietnam. At first I sucked..horrible but with enough practice u get skillz.

when I got mine I practiced for hours in DC, just trying to complete one lap around El Alamein and landing without crashing (in a chopper).
It's very frustrating when you have to go back to square one but it really paid off

                    Geez!!
Ya still can't pull out of a dive even if you scream like a girl and jam the stick back in total desperation til it almost breaks?

Re: Bought a CyborgEvo and I still suck

Dunno if your having the same probs I had with my CyborgEvo, but it kept shooting my plane off in all directions. Its a bug in the Cyborg driver, the joystick axis dont initialise properly. Before you start BF2, open "Game Controllers" on the Control Panel, select the "Cyborg Evo" controller & click "Properties". Now cycle ALL the axis. That means pushing the stick all the way round in a circle, twisting the rudder left & right, and also runing the throttle all the way up & down. Release the stick and now check the axis are properly centered, the X&Y should centered & the rudder in the middle.

Sounds stupid, but it took me a while to work out that I was having a hard time controlling planes because the stick wasn't doing what I wanted.

Also, pop over to http://www.saitek.com/uk/down/drivers.htm & make sure you have the latest (15/03/06) drivers.

Well you pull back to pitch up, push forward to pitch down, push left to bank left, and push right to bank right. Twist left to yaw left, twist right to yaw right.
So if you know these 6 things, use deductive logic to learn how to fly a jet. Bank right and pull back to make a right turn, pull back to go up, and use your yaw (rudder) to make sharper/more fluid movements. With heilos, its all about the throttle and your pitch. Your blades pull you up, through the center of the craft, so if you point them forward by pitching down, you will get pulled forward, similar to a prop plane.

And as someone said, be gentle. If you yank the stick to the left, then try to correct by yanking to the right, while jamming the throttle up and down, youre screwed. Just think about going where you want to go... and youll get there. If you think about how youre gonna do it, ('ok so im gonna bak left, then pull back') then you might as well kill yourself.
