Sure, these 2 guys I gunned down weren't "top aviators" but,

I am commander US in Oman, I shot down the mec bomber, & shoot down the mec fighter, next thing I know I am getting "doubled teamed" by them both, I shot 1 down, & got bombed by the other

OK, they really want revenge now, but they change there tactics, & instead of dive bombing me, they try to level bomb me, bad move, they just gave me more time to shoot

I shot down both planes "back to back", & then timed the arty to get them as they entered there aircraft, they were both able to get airborne before the arty would cycle up, & came right @ me for revenge, I timed the scan to see them approach, & started firing just before I could see them, got them both again, & arty'd them both again

& earlier in the round another team m8 wanted the Essex Gun, so I manned the far Essex gun, & shot down 2 heli trying to drop snipers on the deck

All together I downed 7 fixed wing, & 2 heli in 1 round LOL

This will remain 1 of my fondest memories of the game for a long time, I am sure

It's even better when you have a squadmate with the sense to man the forward turrent and work together.A real challenge to even the best of aviators.

Where are, if there are two, guns on the carrier on Iron Gator?

I know one is at the Viewing Deck... where's the other one if there is two.

i know there are 2 on all vanilla BF maps. The second one would be at the very rear of the ship. I have SF but don't play it very often to know if they changed the position for iron gator.

maybe there's only 1 in that map?

He was speaking of Oman.I dunno about Iron Gator as I do not have that map.If however you are referring to Oman,1 gun mount is on the fantail,gunmount 2 is forward of the flying bridge.

i know that, but he said "essex gun"... and the phalanx turrets are mounted on the essex... and can be called "guns"... so hes still right.

ESPECIALLY if 1 is commander, & picks them up on scan on the way in, 1 gets him coming, & 1 gets him going

I know that, but when you get the kill message it says |SI|SERIALBUTCHER[Essex]n00b, so most ppl call it the Essex gun

Also, If a word is incorrectly spelled, or used by enough ppl for long enough, they change the dictionary to reflect it's real world popular use

btw THX for the clarification, I am sure it was educational for some, I am a military vet, & take pride in the use of proper "nomenclature", but was just trying to share my experience, & "communicate" that experience in the most effective way

I would say if you are not a veteran pilot you should avoid the Essex guns, you never know who is in them, I shoot down heli, & aircraft reguarly w/ the IGLA, rape choppers w/ the tank main gun, & have downed "fixed wing" w/ the tank main gun more than once

I am not saying I am the best, but I was commander, & I was in a position to see everything they were doing

Plus, they weren't trying to strafe the deck, they were flying Kamikaze straight @ me, & they got blown out the air like the "Great Marianas Turkey shoot"

IRL only especially equiped "Wild Weasel" aircraft using HARM (high explosive anti-radiation missiles, & advanced radar jamming capability) deliberately engage the best "state-of-the-art" SAM sites head-on guarding the most highly valued targets

CWIS was designed to shoot down missiles, let alone aircraft

It is not a "birthright" for every n00b w/ a joystick to PWN every 1 on the ground all the time LOL

5hit, if you fly a F-18 straight as an arrow kamikaze @ me while I am in a T-90 you might be my next "lucky (1 in a million) shot"

Always remember, to "get some 4$$", you gotta "bring some 4$$"
