Why say something useful or insightful about something that's not useful or insightful? The rankings is simply an excuse to charge more for server prices. The rest was possible in BF1942 via 3rd parties, but those have been overshadowed now due to EA wanting absolute control. Couple that with the fact that no matter what mod I want to play, I have to log into a ranking system intended for BF2 ranked servers only. It's absolutely not needed and quite frankly, with all the problems in the netcode of the game, the time wasted on the ranking system could have been well used in make the game engine better, as it still needs this attention.

Right, that's why when even the demo hit, the game had plenty of bugs in it. The red nametag bug occurred in the demo, yet to be fixed. You could have a ping of 50ms or less and run around 50fps, but still be lagging as far as the game engine is concerned. I don't know about you, but when the game actually decides to run, you find a server you have a low ping to, and you fire weapons and the server still may or may not recognize it, or your projectiles just go straight through things...I find that an absolutely pathetic job at coding. If someone were lagging into the ground or the server were experiencing trouble at the time, that's a different story, but it's been a constant problem since the DEMO of the game, just as most other problems with the engine, and they've gone unfixed. I don't see how DICE as a whole is doing much of a job at coding. Of course, in DICE's defense, EA has this habit of rushing things, so it's very well possible the game was forced out by EA, thus not giving DICE the time needed to code it properly. (heck, 1942 worked fine and the game engine is practically the same, something just can't be right about that for it to be screwed up so badly)

Wouldn't work on me.. I still wouldn't buy it until I am convinced EA can provide a game with limited bugs and game play issues.

They'd carry over your rank, which is what I meant. I'll amend the original post to clarify that.

Well if i was a "noob" player, meaning a someone with zero knowledge of the BF series......and bought this game (2142) and on the very first day saw 2,000 people with 90K in global points......ahh yeah, im not playing anymore.
Its a different game, and points shouldnt carry over.
I will say however, they could carry a "BF VET" award to all games comming in the future, where only one lockable choice becomes available instantly to you. (one) Or....somekind of name color change in game. Subtle differences that dont mean a whole lot.
In other words, when someone looks at the amount/names of people in game, vets would have maybe, orange names, where everone else would have the standard white. That would be ok.

I am not interested in the future wars, I will not be buying the BF2142 series.
              Armed Assault? YES PLEASE!
for as detailed as the soldier looks in those screen shots the rest of the scenery looks like it was coded in 5 minutes...

It is human nature. Human being has acquired stats since he started thinking intelligently.
Think about it. Stats are history, statistics are being recorded for everything; Weather, wars, accidents, births, deaths, population, school records, bank records, and the list goes on endlessly. It's just natural that people who spend a lot of time with something want to have the statistics recorded for what they are doing.

Of course I don't care about stats...
Or let's put it differently, I care about MY own stats because I want to know what I do in my time on BF2, and how I'm progressing through time.

Other people might have other intentions with their stats, ranks, bragging rights, longer e-nis, goals the want to reach etcetc.

no, very differently. I said i dont want 90K global stat players in a new game. HOWEVER, to appease folks, perhaps give them, the folks with global points orange names in the game. Thus folks will know these are bf vets.

                        OR allow one unlock.

but not points, as what was suggested.

That would NEVER happen, and as much as I like my ranks/unlocks/awards, I would love to start over fresh with a new game.

It's a totally different game, different classes, vehicles etc, there is no way you can have your stats from BF2, + they talked about changing the scoring system.

I'm never gonnaa buy another EA game anyway so I really don't care, just wanna let you know that the suggestion is completely nonsense...

If that is true, I would have to generously decline that offer. I would rather keep playing BF2 or something else.

I'm buying 2142. I've been playing BF franchise games (starting with '42) since the very hour it was released as a demo.

Variable writes well thought out threads and really loves the game. Calling him a moron is like punching yourself in the face and lighting yourself on fire... not a good idea :)
