I'm done with the bf series...I left in 1942 when people would kami jeeps into planes to try to get the plane...or shoot at them while they took off....

bf2 isn't much different. I had some fun moments, but the spark faded. Bf2142 doesn't interest me the slightest.

actually to be honest i havent seen the red/blue nametag bug in a while now, i already forgot that it exists. But thats a good idea you got goin there and EA/Dice are probably goingg to consider it. i for one would like this to happen but i have to agree the current ranking system is O.K they could improve it but carry it over since im probably going to get bf2142 anyway

Stats are serious buisness. I mean really, who plays this game for fun? It's all about my uber elite rank in a video game isn't it?

There's quite a bit of psychology involved with a ranking system - suffice to say, it works :)

it will defo not carry your stats on bcos i heard that ull be able to download things like armor and special abilities for your player and this would not be fair if a general or wateva was able to go into this new came already the highest rank... plus they'll want to add new points systems like a super power ability points or some thing if you know wat i mean so ur points will be unbalanced... no way will they carry the points over and no way will i waste all this time ive spent on bf2 for a wonnabe star wars battlefront...

I'm done with the bf series...I left in 1942 when people would kami jeeps into planes to try to get the plane...or shoot at them while they took off....

Why you on total bf2 then if u dont like bf2

This does definatly work with out the ranking system i would not play it anymore... it gets you hooked making you want to get better stats... works for me

DICE already stated in an interview there will be stats, but seperate from the bf2 stats, you will have to start all over .

only reason why they make this game is because they fear enemy teritory quake wars, but if they have a good plan for selling it, don't know .

Also, they build it on the same engine as BF2 , very funny, the engine is a total PC busting parasite with countless bugs in it .

quake wars builds it on the(improved) DOOM III engine, more effective, better graphics, same or less PC power needed

and from what I have heared, they will have some kind of stats system, but without unlocks and ranks

They should fear Enemy Territory while I am not a sci fi future FPS fan imagine if someone made a DC mod running on the engine ET uses and they also create a ranking system.

BF 2 will be in the cheap software bin fast that is what they fear.

what might work would be a sudo unlock system where you could unlock a few toys for the rounds on the current map you're playing. then have to restart as soon as the server loads up a new map and every one has to start all over again.
                    thats my 2 cents.

Yay I'm so-...not excited. Wait, the ranking system is stupid anyway, how is that going to convince me to buy it? Besides, by carrying it over, people can be assured to never have a chance at being near the top if they're not there already (assuming someone actually cares about the rankings, and sadly some people live and die by them)

You've never said anything remotely useful or insightful about stats, and why or why not they should exist.

While I agree, you must remember that Dice Sweden made the game orignally, but Dice Canada took over. Most of the bugs we know surfaced only after that transition of leadership, and they were either brought out or even created by DC's efforts.

I pray to God that DS keeps their hands on BF2142, because frankly, DC don't know what the fawk they're doing.

hahahahaha sooo many people complaining about 'bf2 sucks!' ... 'sf sucks!' .... 'euroforces sucks!', and now it's 'boy, i hope bf 2142 doesn't suck when i buy it.'. there's a thing called a trend... and if you complained about all 3 bf2 parts, you're gonna do the same crying in the forums about bf2142.

                            - keep the stats ( if you don't like the ranking system, don't pay attention to it)
                            - make the stats carry over to bf2142 but make the unlocks only available when you rank up IN bf2142 instead of them automatically allowing us to have access because of our exsisting ranks.

seriously, 900 hours playing a game... why the F*CK would i want to start from scratch, all for some mech warrior rip off that can be handled by any noob with an EMP gernade none the less.

DICE will undoubtedly create a ranking system for 2142 (they'll probably use the same code from BF2's), so it makes wonderful sense to lure BF2 players into buying the new game by rewarding them for their loyalty and hard work.
Even if they did carry over the stats and you could unlock the Plasma Blaster 2k right away I don't think it would tempt me in the least. I have played all the Battlefield games and all the expansions but I haven't felt less enthusiastic about anything they have advertised then I do about 2142. I mean c'mon, I'm gonna go from driving an Abrahams to some Mech Warrior thingy/Star Wars walker? I know they had to do something to renew the BF series but sheesh.

I would take the netcode of BFV anytime over BF 1942. In BFV it was a blast using the bolt action rifles because you could hit running players with some certainty. Even if it was just a result of tweaks to the original code it still proves that they are capable of doing something right.

stats shmatz....the real staying power of a game is not in its statistical recording of your performance, but replayability in the form of user-friendly map editing. When you can create new maps that the multiplayer community needs little or nothing to download and play, you really have a game that can last, oh, say..... 4 years. (psst ... Operation Flashpoint anyone?)

I am not interested in the future wars, I will not be buying the BF2142 series.
