I don't know if it's always been there or if it's a new thing that was added with one of the most recent patches (I only recently started using the SMGs again as I used to use the DAO whenver I went AT), but it's freakin' annoying. Most of the times when I spawn as AT I'll get my rocket launcher out before I do anything else, usually because there's armour around if I'm respawning as AT, and sometimes I'll end up running into an infantryman before I see the armour, so when I switch back to the SMG and start to let him have it, I just get one piddly single bullet while the enemy drops me like a hot potato. I've yet to have it happen to assault when I switch from the t00b, or spec ops when I switch from C4, etc. like you mentioned, but AT seems to be bugged. I have the '3' key bound to one of my mouse thumb buttons and I know I'm not double-clicking or anything, it just seems to be bugged.

    Glad I'm not the only one this is happening to. I just thought I was crazy and it was starting to wick me off! :p

    There's a certain way that you have to press the 3 key when you switch from AT to SMG so it will not switch the firing mode. I think it's a very quick press or a hold. I can't really remember at the moment cause I have not played AT in a awhile.

      i never use anything BUT single fire mode.

          Yeah I know. Sometimes I think people say things like that just to look like they're not riding the bandwagon :p

            Same here. Sprinting after a fall/jump bugs out every now and then too.
            Fall , start walking, press sprint - nothing happens - press sprint again - nothing happens - stop, start walking, press sprint - now he runs but the tank already got 'im. I think this got bugged after 1.2 (?) when they 'fixed' dd. The "you can't do X"-state doesn't go away as swiftly as it should when theres a countinuous action. e.g. press fire w/ PKM , go prone and it won't shoot until you release the mousebutton and fire again.

                and the number keys are much slower than a custom setup like mine:

                mwheelup = primary weapon
                mwheeldown = pistol
                mouse 3(middle) = greande
                mouse 5(upper thumb) = knife
                e, d, r, f = weapon's/item's 5-8

                  I don't use anything but single fire on every weapon but support. So, erm, I never really noticed this.

                    Every few seconds I'm switching through fire modes because of close quarters and lon range.
                    You've got to hate those situations when the enemy comes round the corner and you click to find your still in single shot mode so you have to tap like a mad man to take them down:hmm:

                      The single shot is annoying, I have died so many times from it, not now though I always check my guns fire mode to make sure.

                        Re: Single shot mode drives me nuts

                        mine goes in to single shot nearly every time aswell an im using the mouse wheel,
                        ive had this problem from the start.
                        the parachute isnt to do with speed but from how much you have fallen,like a real parachute how they count down.
                        so when youve fall so far the parachute will open.obvously you have to press the button thou :P
                        i use a razor copperhead mouse this has 7 buttons ive put the parachute button on the side (left) since its been there it opens alot better.
                        im also using a battlefield2 key lay out on a zboard an its awsome apart from the parachute button which is merged in with the jump,
                        so when iused to use keyboard to open the chute i just slammed into the floor an made a lovely red painting for the passer by's to look at.

                          Re: Single shot mode drives me nuts

                          I read this thread straight through and I think I have a partial solution and a question just out of curiosity for all you posters.

                          The solution has to do with your play style. In my opinion, there is never a reason to button mash to get the game to do what you need it to do. The electric signal travels just as fast whether you press a key gently once or mash it down 1000 times in your impatience to, for example, get your parachute to deploy or switch from AT missle to your mp5. If you are the latter type of player then you are what I call a "white knuckle" player. This is the kind of player that gets way too physically excited while playing a video game and grips the mouse and keyboard like a new driver grips the wheel of a car (hence the white knuckles).

                          I'm not saying you have to sit there catatonic but you will find your performance improve if you relax and realize that the game has certain limitations. For example, after a few hundred hours of playing you should just know how far a jump you need to make and how fast you need to be falling before the parachute will deploy. If not then that is where you need to spend some time; that is, get more familiar with the mechanical limitations of the game.

                          So, how many of you are white knuckle players...?

                            I use the mouse scroll wheel DOWN on my belkin nostromo n52 to deploy the chute. It works everytime, because one quick scroll down is really like pushing it a bunch of times in a row. I am assuming you could do this with the mouse wheel as well.

                              Man, I really hate posts like this. In my opinion, your opinion sucks. Let me translate:

                              'you are all just a bunch of mouthbreathing chowderheads that are way too dumb to possibly understand the complxities involved in pushing a button. Even though your signatures indicate that you have played this game for hundreds of hours you still need to have press, then release explained to you.'

                              Pi$$ on that. I have experienced this many times, mostly with AT but I ahve had it happen with medic, too. It can't be the way I press the button, because I don't press the button at all. I use the mouse wheel exclusively. I have also experienced the sprint thing mentioned as well. Plenty of sprint bar left, but you have to let go for a bit then press again and away you go. Before I saw this post I thought it might be a glitch in my comp, and like wolfgang am happy to hear I'm not the only one.

                              Oh, and thanks to whoever mentioned "hungry hungry hippos". Now I got that stupid jingle stuck in my head......

                                I use the scroll wheel, had it happen a few times, but not really, i think it might have been me selecting the weapon twice with the scroll wheel. Now when i want to switch from single to auto mode i use the number 3 key. And about the parachute, you have to have enought speed and not be to close to a building or something, also i have it bind to Backspace, i dont really look for it, it is natural for me to just reach and hit it now.
