    lmfao
i have to say, talking about a game on a forum, talking about a guy phoning in about a game, is probably worse.

hah and this loser who posted this changed it to be less offensive. talk about a moron.

when packets are lost, they are retransmitted resulting in frame loss, which in turn affects your ping to the server.

Well, someone in EA tech Support is going to be telling stories over beer with his buds tonight about the wacko he had to deal with.

"Yeah... 'n this guy just kept going on! I told him I'd "forward it" and he actually believed me. Some people's kids, eh? Like, jeez, doesn't he have anything real to worry about?"

I promise you, that's the only message that's been forwarded.

Yea, I can image. Well, I guess now there will be no cheaters thanks to that phone call. I certainly hope you are happy, you just put punk buster out of business.:shakehead

So I found the number here http://finance.yahoo.com/q/pr?s=ERTS and I was forwarded to the tech support department. I then talk to a rep about the ongoing cheating/hacking and the rep said he is going to forward that info to the appropriate department. I have also let the rep know that there are many videos and screen shots that prove that cheaters exist. Also another problem I mentioned to him was that the Net code of the game was horrible and causing huge packet loss (I'm using lowest net setting for smaller packets) at a mer 50ms ping and that other games I play on line work very fast at 50ms ping. The fact that I'm on a 6Mbps up/down my packet loss would not exist and my ping would definitely be lower! This is the game that I want to play because I have spent close to $90 total for the Spec Ops and BF2 together! The fact remains that people who hack are just people who lost a lot and wanted to win and thus sought after an alternative source called cheating/hacking. All the people with the colored names are hackers indeed and those in the super high ranks have hacked their way there! (those who have not hacked and are high ranked, this does not pertain to you.) It is sad and I needed to do something about it. Anyhow, goto video.google.com to see proof of cheaters.

I think it's time that Noganite realized what consumers all across the globe know: Customer support is a crock of ****. It's hard enough to get help from customer support on serious matters like your credit card bill, but to think customer support will help you rid BF2 of cheaters is just ridiculous. I don't think the developers themselves even care about it anymore. If you really want help you ought to be mailing some politicians or something. They seem to care so much about cheating in baseball and what not that maybe they'll drop the hammer on BF2 hacks. Or maybe not.

I work for Tech support, and trust me this is the case. Sure I will try to help the customer fix direct issues. When a customer complains that our phone que system is inneficient and frustrating, or that we should make some minor change in policy, I tell them that I'm filing the complaint I'm really just rolling my eyes and laughing at the customer because they actually believe that some faceless company is going to care about the oppinion of one customer who has already paid in full.

It's no wonder customer support sucks balls no matter where you go. What company is gonna waste money recording the conversations of hundreds of calls and then screening them for bad apples like you? It's funny that in a world of instant communications you can't speak directly to the CEO or any of the top brass in ANY company. Nooo, they always gotta be some hot **** enigma that no one knows personally. How else is a company supposed to know what a customer wants? Divination?

                              exactly

but the question is where the packetloss is occuring (and whether its the game or the network)

if the servers packets are getting dropped - everyone on your screen stops for a second. That's jitter.

If it's client packets that are getting dropped - then you see everything normal - but you may all of a sudden jump 3 steps back from where you thought you were because those 3 steps never made it to the server

ping is the lowest CoS (Class of service) there is - so ping would get dropped before data would

icmp is connectionless - the client has no idea whether the server got the ping or not (and doesn't care)

unless bf2 encapsulates in some TCP form.

Unless you're talking about data packets being dropped and re-sent. Normally this would add to the latency (ping) due to high qeues - but i doubt it would significantly affect teh ping time. I bet it would only add enough congestion to bump it up a ms or two.

Wouldn't it just be easier to tell a customer, "sorry, there is nothing I can do." rather than tell them you will take thier complaint or gripe and file it and such? I guess all the morons keep calling cause they are under the assumption that support is gonna do something, because support keeps lying to the customers. Seems like a neverending cycle, lol. Good attitude btw, you will go far...
