The ranking system and having rules is about fairness to players, increasing SKILL, and a level playing field. The ranking system includes different levels of badges for different SKILL levels, from basic to expert. Now why would someone deserve to have a virtual expert knife or pistol badge, when they get it on a server that is only using knives and pistols? They shouldn't, and that is why they are illegal. It is a award designed to reflect that you learned how to actually use the piece of equipment in normal gameplay, not on a server that makes it so you have no choice.

If indeed you play them because they are FUN, than playing on unranked servers shouldn't even be an issue for you.

i agree.....that is the main reason why it is considered "illegal", the expert badges for knife and pistol are impossible for ppl who are not skilled in those weapons, unless they go to one of these servers.

Still it shouldnt be a problem as long as the admin does not enforce the rule, and allows everyone to use anything they want, then using knife-pistol is a choice of the ppl, not an admin-forced decision. Again, if admin does not enforce knife-pistol only, then the only thing that seperates it from the other servers, is the server-name

but the server name may be "knife and pistol only", and would be designed for use of knife and pistol, majority of the players will be using knife and pistol, and will bitch, moan, whine, and cry if u use other weapons, and try a kick vote....

using other weapons would not be adhereing to the spirit of the server, although it is perfectly allowed. It would be like if i were in a regular server, and everyone agreed to use knife and pistol only.....ppl would be allowed to use anything, only difference, again, is the name on the server

anyway these pistol sever can be a great fight :box: if you find one where they stick to certain rules !! i dont mean the ones for BIG scores where you just run round and have big pile ons for heal and knife kills .i mean ones like:-
pistols,knives,grenades,claymores,etc all the same but just small weapons.still play for the flags and command as normal.
There are several versions out there which still involves a certain type of skill.

Even if E.A did'nt expect this to happen, which i think they must have stumbled on it first !?!
they could make it so that we could it right ? Patch in some version of that gamplay or stop it all together ...surely...



Also does anyone know if there is a "BF2 T.V." Broadcast of any kind ??? if not there should be !

first i have been to plymouth many many years ago and enjoyed myself...

second i wonder do the players who so condem the pistol an knife servers think EA should patch the game so 16 players cant run around a 64 player map and take falgs uncontested and build up mega points? i think this is more blatant LEGAL stat padding than duking it out with knives and pistols...at least there they have to fight for the points. remember i don't go to knife and pistol servers but my team will fight knife and pistol only on our rank server until we have enough players to start a game and its fun

and third so i run around ranked servers with my knife or pistol out trying to get my badge and lately 80% of the time the enemy obliges me by whipping out their knife or pistol and we fight to the death, are we BAD for not using the biggest weapon we have?

anyways i love a good debate...

But the whole point of this is servers where pistol knife only are enforced, if everyone is running around with knifes drawn, except for those that are playing right, than it could be called Strawberry Shortcakes House of Pancakes.

I agree with AlphaCueUp. It is just a name they put on the server. I have played countless times when i get bored on a regular server and say "hey anyone wanna knife fight?" Then a majority of the players knife fight. That isnt illegal. The K&P servers is just a place where you dont have to ask if you wanna go all knife and pistol. I dont join the servers to get my badges, I already got those, but its just plain fun to go around knifin'. They are not illegal unless the admin enforces the K&P, then I'm outa there.

its a ranked system, to even attempt to answer your post is a waste of my time. If you can't understand / read the ROE, then dont tell people to stfu if they havent visited one.

I got a real question for ya, if it was an unranked knive/pistol only server, would you still play in it?? And would you still so passionately defend it?

Lameness on the highest level, play the game (ranked) in the manor it was intended to be done.

I think they are legit. I've played on 1 or 2 and it was just a bunch of players using pistols and knives (mostly) playing the game normally....with pistols and knives only.

I personally don't see the big deal. Pretty much every other FPS MP game out there has servers that are pistol only (CS, Ravenshield, etc...). The only difference being you can actually set the server to be pistols only rather than just saying it's pistols only but have every weapon available still.

Pistols only has always been pretty popular in most/all games of this sort.

at the end of the day there are to many people willing to play like this to stop it for good.
