Knife and Pistol ranked servers are for lamers who have no skill. I got my basic knife and pistol badges on my first try on Karkand. No cheating needed.

For knife, just play as MEC and get to the bottom of the hill where USMC comes down. Get near the tree. As the blind USMC guys come down looking towards Hotel, just stab em! You can get lots of knife kills this way.

For Pistol, just throw your KDR to the wind that day and run around with the pistol, using the support kit, or assult kit, that is armored. I got my basic pistol badge on my first try by just not worrying about dying and attacking everyone with the pistol. Running into the USMC base and doing sneak attacks with the pistol helps.

You can also team up with a sniper. he gets a shot in a person, and you finish them off with the pistol. no need to cheat. Cheaters are losers.

Hey, thanks for the advice for the knife. The pistol was no problem, since I snipe alot, which is now my favorite weapon , shoot with the sniper rifle and whip out the pistol. I've done this at close as about 20 feet away:laugh:

Doesn't really concern me, but some others might find it a problem:

"Oh look at me, I got the Expert Knife badge! I'm 1337!"

On a knife-pistol server he could have done that with 0 skill involved.

Aparently it does, you are the one going "oh look at me i am elite"

My second best score is 159 i believer, i got it in Karkand, i was in an APC the whole round as and engi, and the guy in the tank was an engi too, so is that cheating, that's alot of points??????

servers that enforce the rule 'knife and pistols only" can be shut-down, or lose ranked status......this just means admin cannot force you to use knife-pistol only, that would be limmiting my role, and is a violation

servers that are advertised as knife-pistol servers are allowed to do so, as long as the admin does not force anyone to use knife-pistol only...

i dont think it would be considered stat padding....it would be the same thing if everyone from your favorite server decided to use only knifes and pistols......i think by not allowing ppl to do this, EA/DICE is limmitting the role of a player

i dont go into knife-pistol servers......im working on my expert knife now, and its lots of fun playing ppl who using all the weapons, makes the kill more challenging, and more gratifying....i got my basic knife and pistol first try, on the same round.

Exactly.

If you're in a regular ranked server, you're going to have a much harder time getting your expert pistol badge than if you're in a ranked Knife and Pistol server. In a regular server, you have all those other weapons to deal with, including enemy artillery and armor. A pistol isn't gonna do squad against an APC. But in a ranked K&P server, you can get 30-40 pistol kills, becuase that's all that is used.

Besides, its simply against EA's Terms of Agreement when you do a ranked server. You know all that text that most people don't read and just click "Accept". Its listed in there that doing such things as a K&P server is illegal. So, playing on one of those servers that are breaking the rules makes it cheating.

Put it this way. Is it legal to have a casino in Philadelphia? No! Gambling is prohibited in Pennsylvania. And thus, anyone caught gambling in that illegal casino are breaking the law (also known as cheating). Its the same concept with playing on a K&P server.

its a ranked system, to even attempt to answer your post is a waste of my time. If you can't understand / read the ROE, then dont tell people to stfu if they havent visited one.

I got a real question for ya, if it was an unranked knive/pistol only server, would you still play in it?? And would you still so passionately defend it?

Lameness on the highest level, play the game (ranked) in the manor it was intended to be done.

Agree if i had to choose, i would say they should not be ranked. There should be a server config key that would allow you to only allow knives or pistols and that server key should prevent the server from being ranked.

With that said...yes they would still be popular. They were popular in CS and thats not ranked. Its about having fun and it is fun to be in a knife war with sombody.

many of you seem to forget that there are unranked servers - play on them sometime
my time in my stats should be really double what it currently is from playing on unranked servers

well, i run around regular servers with my knife out, i get a decent number of knife kills....and usually, a person you are aproaching with your knife drawn, will take out their knife too....so u do get knife battles on regular servers, no ned to be a pu ssy and go to a knife-pistol server....

i would go to an unranked one maybe, if regular ranked ones werent as fun, if not funnerer

so i think the knife-pistol are ok, if you dont mind admitting your a pu ssy

however i feel they should be allowed. my logic is as follows, a 16 player ranked server running 64 player maps is legal and people use these to run around capping flags and scoring bigtime.

I hope you realize that those 16 player on 64player sized maps take a long time to play. For example, a 64 Player karkand map with 16 players usually takes about an hour to finish, maybe 2! Yea, you can score 200 points on that map and get lots of points. But it still took an hour or two. In that same time frame, you can get the same amount of points in multiple games. So there really isn't a difference, except for "In a Round" type stuff.
