    Re: EA went overboard reseting

I don't really care for the the ranking system but i think the game needs it to keep people playing.

Rank doesn't really show skill, it shows who has the most time to spare.

Im glad you've changed your view on it Loki i still remember you coming in to my server and saying "I out rank you noob" lol :p

That'd be even better, but I'm being realistic. EA isn't going to get rid of the ranking system, they're ripping off people with gouged server prices to get a ranked server, ain't no way EA is going to give up that money.

Maybe if they got rid of it, BFTracks could dominate the BF2 scene and give at least some meaningful stats instead of a simply a compilation of how much time you've wasted in BF2 vs how much time you've been alive in real life.

Thats achievable due a slight bug in the way the stats record a day. A single BF2 day can maybe be dragged out to at least a theorectical 48 hours. I dont know specifically the hows and whys but i think it happens went you play a straight session over the BF2 stats 'midnight', the total session time is carried over to the next day.
So if you started playing on the 12th and kept playing past midnight into the 13th the playing time would be counted only on the 13th.

Another way you could have enough time for that is simply have friends play your account. Unless EA sets up some surveillance equipment at everyone's computer, they'll never know! Except for the fact people suddenly would be playing BF2 23 and 24 hours per day...every day...ok, that's a scary thought.

While that is true, I think that it would be easy to tell if that was happening. Unless everybody involved had the exact same playing style and pretty similar skill, you'd see subtle differences in certain stats.

Thank you. I wondered how this worked. I used to play well past midnight before I started working days, and it almost seemed my time was doubled up every other day.

look, the commander glitch was known as early as the game came out. nobody was talking about it because nobody wanted to know their "little secret." now that the CEA guys basically told the whole BF2 community about it, a lot of the top ppl are in trouble.

FireStorm has his own server. FireStorm is ALWAYS the commander. back when i was still playing BF2 regularly, he would often do the commander glitch during the wee hours in the morning or there aren't a lot of ppl (or they're all his friends). he would only do it for a couple thousand points or sometimes, just a few hundred.

a few weeks ago, i submitted a FRAPS recording of FireStorm doing the commander glitch back in early October (of last year) and BF2RS/EA only did something about it just today. i didn't submitted it then because honestly, i didn't care. but now that a lot of ppl are abusing it, i do care now.

it's about time he got reset.

                          good job, EA!

i'll post the video once EA/DICE releases a fix for this glitch. the video shows how to do it so i don't want the n00b server admins to do it or ppl who are friends with server admins to get a few easy hundred points by doing the commander glitch.

now, i'm surprised they haven't done anything yet to the #5 guy - [N)@(M]Kain!

in case you don't know what happened...

[N)@(M]Kain got his EXPERT knife and pistol badges on the 7th of March. coincidentally, he was found on a Knife and Pistol server the NEXT day:

IndianScout, who is the BF2 ROE Director knew about this and reported it to bf2rankedservers.com:

but still, more than a month has passed and nothing has been done. whereas they were sort of quick to react to the FireStorm video. i guess once [N)@(M]Kain moves to the top spot THEN they'll do something...

One person might notice it, but how do you PROVE it? Some people drink occasionally, and play while drunk. Some people aren't consistant (you don't have to be good to be top in the ranks, so having skill constantly is out of the picture, you just have to play a lot, skill aside). If it were done from the same computer (maybe brothers or roommates team up) you couldn't use IP differences at certain time periods to make a case (and even then, you could say you play from a computer lab and dorm room, for example). Even if someone notices it, how do you prove to EA (if they even cared to hear your case) that they share an account to get points?

As far as the stats having differences, what would it matter? It's the same person, so it's all going to average out in the totals. Add that to differences in play styles not being hard proof of account sharing, and you have yourself a good tactic to get a character high in the points.
