I don't care for it too much, either. It just...runs really sluggish on my machine, for some reason. All other maps are smooth as can be...but that oilfields map just lags so much.

here's a simple solution when you notice a sniper on a roof

first, you climb the ladder and slow down when your almost on the top and look for a claymore. if you see one, press shift to go down the ladder really fast. once your back on the ground, just toss a grenade on the roof

Id like to consider myself as one of those "team helpin snipers" ... I usually am not squad leader because I personally think there is nothing worse than having 3 dudes spawn at you while your sniping. It would be ok if ppl were smart enuf to go and take the nearest flag .... but most of the time they just chill next to me noob spraying their loud as hell automatic guns ... not cool. But, many times I will end up being in a squad if I can find a smart SL ... Like on Karkand when all the MEC bases are taken except for like 1 or 2 ... I will often see a SL running behind enemy lines to go take the hotel. I will join/spawn on him and claymore the entry ways then take the flag. After that, I will climb on the building directly next to the hotel and defend the flag against MANY infantry who try to take it. I can come out wioth an awsome score as long as we dont encounter the apc whores ...

P.S. I hate the SVD and the M95 ... just awful guns imho. M24 has my heart and the l96A1 is king of the skies. semi auto snipers should not be allowed to call themselves snipers .... no need for aiming lol. Same with the M95 ... no need to aim just shoot a limb or the torso and pistol them to death. m24 takes skill .... and I got it

At the same time, your "skill needed" rifle also fires much faster and doesn't give your position away. In other words, it's easier to use that than the m95...seeing you gotta make "sure" your shot counts, while with the other, missing still won't give your position away. Always two sides to a coin

The other two rifles are great for anti-infantry, but I prefer the m95 for the "all around" usefulness (ie, useful against vehicles/choppers).

Just depends on your taste. Do you want to be infantry only? or do you want to sacrifice total stealth (and require moving around) for an all around use against anything except armored vehicles?


As for you, Pever, which is attempting to state that I just run around claymore spamming :P You'll notice from my pictures that I'm not running around at enemy spawns with claymores.

I went 29 for 0 recently on mashtuur.. it's not easy, and it takes all round, but sniping is definitely less intense than other styles of combat.

Why I favour PKM I can't honestly say, it's not the best gun anymore (and certainly wasnt good AT ALL before 1.2) but I seem to do ok with it.

I reckon me and you would be a good competition, you on MEC on Karkand, me on USA or vise versa. Im a pretty good sniper like you are, it would be fun and also good pwnage.

Well seeing as they are called that in the game there is no point arguing it :)
Allthough I think the term Designated Marksman would be more appropriate. Even at Camp Perry they have seperate competitions for the semi's.
Well like I told the guys at DICE, give the USMC the choice of going semi-auto as well. So you can choose what flava you prefer ingame.

I think it's an excellent tactic. Have you also tried doing it as support? That way you're providing suppression fire and an ammo spawn point for your squad. What do you think?

Thats very true. However I'd love to see an M21 or even a new M14 DMR on the shelf for the US Snipers. A lot of what people on this forum call "assault sniping" is actually being a DM.

To cop the the Anime junkies, the PSG-1, or the MSG-90 or the G3SG/1. Of course the PSG-1 being a damn good 600m sniper rifle, the MSG-90 being the budget version, and the good ole G3SG/1 being the DMR.

Or the Knight SR-25. Nice rifle.

Or the FN-FAL with a scope. The SANDF's DMR is the accuracized R1 (Lisence built metric FAL)

Or an accuracised Galil in 7.62

Of course mose of these guns have 20 round mags of 7.62x51mm, like the G3 in the game. So they would have to have some serious accruacy deficiencies to make up for the semi auto and large mags.
