So.. you guys are saying, that on my new rig, which is an AMD 4800+ dual core (each at 2.4ghz) 64 bit.. and dual 7800's, that I won't be able to run BF2 on full, without 2 GB of ram? (I'm getting 2 GB, but I'm just wondering).

u should be fine with 1 gig but it is better for 2 gigs because of all the processes u will be running at once durring the game

built a computer for a friend of mine:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ @ stock
eVGA 7600 GT
2 gigs of RAM

Is all high with 2xAA. He can turn more up, but he likes the way it looks at this setting.

It will run, but it will stutter like hell unless you get 2 gigs. With textures on max bf2 uses about 1.2-1.5 gigs of ram on it's own, so 2 gigs will minimize the hd pagefile use.
