Anyone know if 3.2GHz and 1GIG of ram will affect the Verifying? Because I have those specs and the Verify AND the loading still takes a while... I closed off all programs except for Teamspeak in the background...

I usually blame it on the server because some are instant at verifying but others take up to 2 minutes.

I know the magic trick, I can't believe no one has ever posted this thing that I am going to say, it increases my frame rate upto 15%, its not about loading bf2 faster but playing it smoother.

Go to your desktop icon and find the target, after the "C:/prog.../bf2.exe" add the line <space>-high, it should look like this ("C:/prog.../bf2.exe" -high) test your bf2 out and tell me your difference.

I see no difference in game play.

whats your processor speed? you need to remember that regardless of if you have 2GB of memory, if your processor speed is 1.8, the ram isnt going to run at the full potential.
the ram will only run as fast as the processor.
example, you have a processor that runs as 2.2 and you have 2.0 gigs of ram, it will run at 2 gigs.
1.5 processor 2 gigs of ram, ram only runs at 1.5,

OMG, you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. True, the RAM will only run as fast as the processor but this is not an issue on any modern machines.

GB of RAM and GHz for your processor are two entirely separate things. If you have 1.5GHz processor, you can still use all 2GB of your RAM.

Seriously, don't post about computer stuff because you will just confuse people who don't know much.

The whole time it is verifying and loading it is using the hard drive. So.....naturally a faster hard drive setup would help. Western Digital Raptor at 10000 RPM single or RAID 0 should do it.

Just play on a ranked linux / linux64 server, no verifying client data!

I've started doing this... There's a few Linux servers, finding them with All Seeing Eye is a cinch.

Yeah, I can easily compare my friends and my system (they are pretty much the same give or take a few cpu cycles) and the main culprit for verifying client data is the HDD. It takes longer on mine than anyone elses in my group because I've got BF2 on a seperate partition. I found the ones that have it installed in the default (C:\ ) tend to verify the quickest.
