Could be your harddrive, if it has small cache it takes longer to access the data from it, or if your turned up your graphics it will take longer. Put you graphics to what they used to be and see how long it takes.

Right now I have 512 RAM and a Geforce FX 5500.

I can either get 2GB RAM or 1GB RAM and a Geforce 6100

      Which would help more?

PB scans what is loaded into memory.

Content Check is a built in anticheat for the game that compares the digital signatures of known files on the clientside against the signatures it is supposed to have.

Content Check does not happen on Linux or Linux64. This particular instance is known because the stupid little icon that everyone mistakes as BattleRecorder is actually for Content Checking. If you check a Linux based server, it will not have that little icon, but all Win based servers do. You can also verify the icon that represents Content Checking by going to the official EA site and looking in their support section.

The icon list by EA can be viewed here: http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg...ted=1130280434

There are some tips on Client Verification that stickied in the Tips and Tricks section of this board.

          Thanks for the replies.

          I'm using a Socket 754 Athlon 64 3000+ (2GHz). Graphics card is 6600GT.

I did a HDD test and got 50MB/s average. Using WD 200GB IDE

Honestly, it can be influenced by a number of things, my loading times always change their way on me. My loading times are usually longer now while the Veryfying takes 3 seconds, Usually it was the other way around..

3sec? I only got that once on a Linux server..also is 30sec map loading too slow for 2GB RAM? Running most at low with effects & geom. at medium, res @ 1280x1024

Linux and 64 bit servers have verifying times of under 5 seconds.

Unfortunately all the ranked servers near me are running Windows...

So it's basically down to HDD speed?

That is because they don't verify at all. It just goes to the little screen that says 'Verifying Client Data' because the visuals are clientside, once it recieves information from the server that it is not doing that check, it disappears in about 3-5 seconds. Read my thread above, all the way through and follow the links, it explains alot.

Avoiding the Geforce 6100 card would be your biggest help - its crap and would be slower than your 5500. Go for a 6600GT or higher or don't bother upgrading your card. Some people will argue the difference between 1GB and 2GB, but its pretty minimal, there was an article which I can't find right now about the difference, but it was about 5%.

Long and short of it is, if I were you, I'd upgrade my graphics card, just make sure its the right one.

2gigs of ram will help ur map load more than it will for client data.

when i upgraded to 2gigs, my map load is much quicker, but client data still takes about the same amount of time.

This will be the reason why ...

                          Im using AMD 3700+ sandieago overclocked to 240 x 11 socket (939)

2 gig of corsair Platinum ram 2-3-3-6 timings

                          2x80Gig SATA hardisks RAID 0

I used to be 1st on the server when I first go this setup some 6 - 8 months ago. These days people are playing with AMDx2 4400+ and better some people with SATA 2 hardisks this is why I am not always 1st into a server anymore.

With a socket 754 processor and ide hardisk there is very little chance you will be first on any server

However the 2 gigs of ram will help you in the fact that textures and terrain detail etc will be loaded into ram at the start of the map and not having to use virtual memory... you will see a difference in lag at the start of the round and the game will run smoother for you.

hmm... strange thing is that my S754 scores better than my friend's S939 in the 3DMark06 CPU test...

how much is your average throughput for your HDD?

whats your processor speed? you need to remember that regardless of if you have 2GB of memory, if your processor speed is 1.8, the ram isnt going to run at the full potential.
the ram will only run as fast as the processor.
example, you have a processor that runs as 2.2 and you have 2.0 gigs of ram, it will run at 2 gigs.
1.5 processor 2 gigs of ram, ram only runs at 1.5,

My processor is running at 2040MHz, for some reason the mobo OCs the FSB by 4MHz...

                                multiplier is 204x10
