BTW, are you going to need a special motherboard to run these 7900GTX in SLi? Cause they are really wide. It almost covers my other PCI-e slot. If I get another one and want to run them in SLi its going to be a tight fit. Personally I don't think that's good, right? You need air to go in between the 2 cards. Just a thought.

Oh it will, but very tight. You will not be able to fit your pinkie in between them. The only thing you will be able to fit is a piece of paper. Just trying to give examples of how much room the 2 cards will have being places together. My card is already boxed up and ready to be shipped back tommorrow, or I would slap it back in and take a pic to show you all how close it is to the other slot. When I get my return one I can if you all want me too. Oh, I never used the Sli tech. but isn't there supposed to be that bridge on top of the cards? If so, there is no way that bridge will connect the 2 cards.

The "bridge" is a clip that goes on the outer edge of the cards.

Also, thats why the cards are built where the slot is the highest most point of the card, that way all its "guts" point downward.

They wouldnt say its SLI ready and it not able to fit.

If it doesnt fit, that means the motherboard manufacturer made the motherboard to the incorrect specifications.

For best performance, you do need the bridge. I would recommend ditching that msi board and getting an asus sli-deluxe or premium. Both asus boards have extra space between the x16 slots, so both cards would fit fine.

I get to go sli because of this release (someone's upgrading and I get their current card) so I'll let you know how my 7800GT's in SLi compare to your 7900GTX single. Kudos on the buy though! Wow. Expeeeeeeeeeeeesive!

Ok I got my BFG 7900GTX OC version installed. I do not know, I would think I would get more performance than I thought, maybe my monitor is slowing down the FPS. I dont have Vsysnc on. I am averaging 60-100 FPS in the BF2. It mostly stays around 70-80. That is what Fraps says. What was the most dissapointing was on the map operation smoke screen it stayed 55-60 FPS. Which I thought I would get more. Everything is on high AA 4x. I have no idea what esle to tweak for better performance. I hope you all can help me out so I can get the most out of this card. Thanks

I was expecting to stay at 80+ FPS with this beast of a card. My old card was GeForece 6800GT 256MB I was getting 40-50 FSP. Just thought this one should be blowing it away.

what rez are you on, what settings. Thats about the FPS i get at 1600x1200 6XAAA 16xHQAF.

I've got one 7800GT currently and I average 80fps with all high settings, ultra high audio (Have an XFI soundcard), and I think this part is very important: AA is OFF ingame. I have AA at 4X inside the nVidia control panel. I run a resolution of 1600x1200. Remember to clear your shader cache file after making any changes.

Also, do this for me. When you're in a game, hit the ~ key (key to the left of your "1" above your left pinkie) and type in: game.lockfps 200 exactly as I typed it there (with the space and the period between "game" and "lock", and no space between "lock" and "fps", and a space before the "200".

You'll see that your fps suddenly shoots above 100fps. This is because 100 is the default cap. But once you change the default it'll be able to go past that. I hit 120+ on a good server. And since I can do this with my 7800GT, you can certinaly do much better on your 7900GTX. Youve got more pixel pipelines, twice as much onboard ram, and a more effiecent and higher clocked core.

I'm very much considering doing my upgrade to the 7900GTX (in SLi). Tell me if I'm crazy or not here:
