nope, like someone else said above the 7900gt and 7900gtx both have 24 pipes, the difference now is only the 7900gtx gets the 512MB memory, and they tend to clock higher too.

Just curious, can you just overclock the 7900GTX to what the 7900GTX OC comes with? Then you have the overclocked version..yes?

Yes, but I think the superclocked has a better cooler, I'll find out when mine arrives in a few weeks.

Well I got my 7900GTX 512MB PCI-e and I am soo F***** ****ed, because I think its defective. Installed it and started my PC. It loads the the bios just fine, but when you are about to get to the window where it shows you the window progress bar, my screen goes black. Nothing comes up, then I tried it in safe mode. You see all the files loading then nothing happens. I called eVGA tech support they told me I have a bad card. I put my old 6800GT PCI-e back into my PC and it works fine. I just cant believe that this card is bad. Maybe I miss a step. I thought PCI-e are plug and play, is there anything I need to change in my bios or anything? Please let me know, I was super ready this weekend to use this card.

If the tech says you got a bad card, then just return it for a new one, I'm sorry to hear that, though. Pci-e cards are plug and play, so nothing you can do will change it.

                Dont call them tard.

RMA it over the website, citing that it was DOA. They will instant-approve it and send you a confirmation email. Ship it back to them tomorrow morning early and let it travel over the weekend to them to expedite things a bit.

There really is no reason to name call. Besides that, doesn't your box have a bright blue sticker on the flap that says not to return it to the store? Go to the website, or call them again and send it back. Either way you should get a replacement soon.

This is my first time dealing with newegg. But thanks for the advice for online. I just sent in my RMA. But have another question. I read in there FAQ that they will not pay for shipping back to them, but they will split the cost. Meaning they ship back to you for no charge. SO, If I ship it back to them 1 day, actually 2 day be better since I doubt anyone is there Sunday to receive. Get it to them Monday. Would newegg honor the same and send my replacement in 1 or 2 days. Which ever one I pick?

No they ship back their choice of shipping methods. It used to be FedEx express saver that they would send back, but I think they send it back UPS 3-day now.

Yeah i think they should reimburse for the return shipping but what can you do? Atleast they generally take your word that its DOA.

They will ship it the same they shipped it the first time.

That blows. This is the last time I buy something like this over the internet. If I just went to my local store, yes I know I would have paid more, but at least I would have it replaced right now. Thanks for your reply btw.

It will be interesting to see which card will have higher benchmarks if 7900GTX is underclocked to 7800GTX 512MB clock speed ....

You are right, I am just sooooo disappointed right now. Was looking forward to this ALL day. And was looking forward to playing BF2 with my new card. Once I have my replacement and have it working, it will probably be water down my back.
