Becuase that looks like an awesome deal, except that a monitor 1ill run me 200 and a mouse and keyboard around 50....plus 100....that will hit higher than the dell. ��������������Ok, now I am presented with a 2 options. I have taken dell out of the picture.
I am currently looking at:
- Custom PC
- Alienware PC
The problem is I have no clue how to make a custom PC, nor do I know a good deal, etc. If Anyone where could put give help me make on in my budget (1600 USD), I would appreciate it - but that is a lot of work and I am not really expecting it.
My second choice, and the one I am leaning two more is the alienware.
These are the specs and price, can you guys give me pointers on what I should upgrade/downgrade to get the best price and the also have the best BF2 playing experience.

That is probably why I would custom build, just for the fact that it is SO much cheaper...
And one last thing, this is important. Are alienwares built well? Should I invest a LOT in warranty. This is how I use my computer: it sits on my desk, turned on usual all day. I have all the power settings on max, but I usualy have it stand by after an hour. The computer wont move much, if at all. So, do you recomend getting over a 1 year warranty? And should I get the alien autotopsy support which contacts alienware as soon as a problem occurs? That feature seems cool, but it is an extra 50 USD...
So ya, some help...and if you want to help me set up a good custom system via email or something like that, that would be awesome, just let me know.
Other wise, give me your best opinions and I appreciate the help very much.

Alienware offers horrible value for your money, with your budget you cannot afford an alienware.
Also do you need a monitor? If you do you will want a 17-19 inch with 12ms response or lower. (also check reviews and get a well established brand)Comment

alienware = overhyped, overpriced bull$#!@
its almost as bad as the f4tal1ty garbage. unless you have money to burn, price:performance should be your main consideration.
for gaming, hardware from the 'enthusiast' tier is usually the best compromise. the budget tier usually doesnt offer enough power and is for those people for whom price is the only consideration.
dont let yourself be suckered in to buying a bleeding-edge processor or vid card - they are *never* near worth it in terms of price:performance.Comment

ok, since it seems that you need a completely new computer, I would suggest going with what I posted earlier, except a lesser processor and you could drop the X-Fi soundcard if you wanted to. An AMD socket 939 3500+ ought to do very nicely and can overclock well. There are tutorials for that all over the internet :). The 3500 should be about $200 dollars, so that's $250 you can spend on mouse, keyboard, and monitor.
For my mouse, I use a Logitech MX518, which is really comfortable, has good precision, and has on-the-fly dpi adjustments (change the sensitivity of the mouse by pressing a button), which really helps out in BF2.
For my keyboard, I just use a generic Microsoft one... really the only thing I cared about when I got my keyboard was that it was fairly quiet and had volume control.
As for a monitor... meh can someone else make some reccomendations? I know Viewsonic and Dell are good brands for monitors, but I don't really know of any others.
Oh, and yoiu will need to get an operating system... left that out of my list. Windows XP home should do you well :)Comment

Alright, I tweaked it around a bit. Its 1600 give or take a few. Alhough I said I would spend up to 1600, it doesnt mean I have the money yet. The less cost is, the quicker I can get it.
So the changes I made were downgraded the screen to 17 inch, which is fine with me. But then i noticed...
...I need speakers...do I need a sound card to get speakers, and which cheap but good speakers could you recomend?Comment

Logitech X-530 70 Watts 5.1 Speaker - Retail is supposed to be a pretty good and cheap 5.1 setup. No you don't need a sound card to use speakers; your motherboard comes with its own "onboard" sound. However, this uses some processing power from the CPU and doesn't sound quite as good as a PCI soundcard would.
And I honestly don't know if this Realtek ALC850 will support 5.1 in games. It does support EAX 1.0 and 2.0, but it would be nice if someone could confirm that 5.1 will work in games. I know my onboard sound didn't, but my onboard sound is different and doesn't support EAX at all.Comment
