I will sell only good high performance quality products. I can't have it that a client is unhappy with his box. It would be bad for business. So recommending more than necessary would also be bad for business. Most clients are on limited budgets, age range between 16-32, but hell you all think you got better performance, be happy with it. I'm just stating that after lot's and lot's of machines I haven't noticed the difference in fps between 1 and 2 GB, it loads faster and that is it. As I said just make sure you config your pc the right way. Anyhow, I'll stop debating. You all seem to base your results on your own machine. Whereas I actually did tons, tested and could compare them. All the best.

I'm just stating that after lot's and lot's of machines I haven't noticed the difference in fps between 1 and 2 GB, it loads faster and that is it.

I don't see anyone here stating that adding 2Gb increases your FPS. The stuttering isn't caused by having low FPS. We're saying adding 2Gb will decrease load times by at least half, and alleviate the stuttering issues caused by access of the page file.

The Crucial Ballistix are awesome for overclocking. They are rated at 250MHz, but most people have hit 280MHz with some hitting over 300MHz on the Ballistix. I got screwed and got a bad set of RAM and I'm rma it. There seemed to be only one batch where everyone got screwed so you should be fine if you get them now. If you don't plan on overclocking, then you're wasting your time getting them.

No one here ever said anything about increasing fps with the 2nd gig...did you pay any attention to what we have written here?

It stops stuttering and having the HD load the map many many minutes into the map! My HD stops blinking within seconds of entering the map.

The last piece of evidence I have in this debate is a no brainer...goto the EA website and find a small video developer diary where in plain and clear English the guy says P4, and COUPLE OF GIGS OF RAM, for max settings.

But hell, you all seem to be happy with it. So just enjoy it. Stuttering never has been an isue on my machines. Sorry, I do read it.

Nothing to do with my connection, my ping has always been between 20-30 on UK servers, the stuttering was solved when 2 GB was put in. END OF STORY.(For me anyway) Good to see my topic has caused some controversy. Like I have said if you experience stuttering upgrade from 1GB-2GB and this will should solve the problem. Also the best bit is you can Alt+TAB out of game and back in like you should be able too.

Network connectivity? Yea right. My ping on most servers is 15-20 and I have no firewall on. When I max out those settings on my machine, I stutter and lag like crazy. I don't know what is with "your" machines but on everyone elses it seems the same way. Hey, how about this. To prove that you can actually play on ultra high (and I mean EVERYTHING at the absolute highest) with "your" machines I would like you to record a couple of videos on those machines to prove to us that you right. Your videos MUST show proof that you have ONLY 1GB of RAM, and that you have all settings COMPLETELY MAXED OUT. I want to see If those machines can do what you say. I'm sorry I don't like arguing either but I must see how you can play BF2 with 1GB on maxed out settings.

It was proven on Tomshardware i believe, that it does not increase your FPS but runs the game more smoothly, they did a test with one gig, and the FPS would vary from 20 FPS to 80 FPS, this is an example only, but with 2 gigs it would only vary form let's say 45 FPS to 80 FPS. The game just runs smooth. Oh by the way TH had a fresh install, fresh drivers, and also and FX-57, with a 7800GTX

After I upgraded from 1 to 2GB of RAM, I noticed:

1) Load times drastically decreased
2) no more map lag for first 5 min. of new map
3) able to alt+tab instantly, no HDD access
4) after i exit the game, no hard drive access at all, unlike before where everything would lag for a long time and i wouldn't be able to use the comp.

thats enough proof for me.

I had a lousing 512 ram and added another 512 ram for a total of 1gb of ram and it's awesome. 1Gb is the max for my computer and there is no shuttering and no delays between maps and alot faster load time in map loading. I am sure the extra ram is great, but the 1Gb of ram is good enugh for me for now.

I disagree, 1 GB is more than enough. If you bought a better GFX card, you would have run it on HIGH 100fps at 1600*1200. But I understand that you have a certain setup, dropping some small cash and getting a performance increase is nice. But the game uses maximum of 1150 MB, maxed out. Personally, have tuned alot of boxes pure for BF2, I wouldn't suggest such an upgrade. I would suggest to go from 512 to 1024. Your loading will be faster and maybe your mind plays little tricks on you. Benchmark the fps yourself. You'll see no big difference.

I have also built approx. 25 machines with several different configurations, several different videocards, and where the 2gb of RAM comes in handy is not in the game, rather it is when you first load up the map. If you notice, it may take some people up to five minutes to connect to a low ping server with medium graphics settings. Once you increase to 2gb, I have noticed a drop from 3-5mins to less than 40secs.

I think he meant the game in itself should run better with 2gb of RAM, and it does. Logging your FPS won't show you the improvement, but ridding yourself of long load times and map started lag spikes is a definitive improvement for a rather cheap upgrade.

As for the better GFX cards? I think his dual 6600GT should be fine...hehehe

P.S. - I have also seen multiple people get great results editing their virtual memory settings to approx 1536mb minimum. I know it doesn't use it all, but the game itself runs better in general for specific people.

Add another lol for network connectivity. I play only on Dallas Texas based servers which all ping me lower than 20...usually 12-16.

I have a 5mbit cable connection too, that gives excellent service.
