    2 Gigs of Ram OMG!

Just got another gig of ram and what a difference! Spec
    Amd 64 3500+ Winchester
    2GB Ram
    2x 6600GT 128 in SLI

I can now play BF2 with all on high 4x AA @ 1280x1024@75hz, was playing medium-low

Those with lag get 2GB of ram! I think that would sort alot of problems! Certainly sorted my lag!

I disagree, 1 GB is more than enough. If you bought a better GFX card, you would have run it on HIGH 100fps at 1600*1200. But I understand that you have a certain setup, dropping some small cash and getting a performance increase is nice. But the game uses maximum of 1150 MB, maxed out. Personally, have tuned alot of boxes pure for BF2, I wouldn't suggest such an upgrade. I would suggest to go from 512 to 1024. Your loading will be faster and maybe your mind plays little tricks on you. Benchmark the fps yourself. You'll see no big difference.

    Cheers

If you play BF2 for a while you'll notice it does slowly use up the full 1Gb or ram and then start using your page file. I'm sorry, but 1Gb isn't enough to play with no stuttering at high settings. Obviously if he noticed such a difference it did something.

Just tune your box. Seriously. But hell, he is happy, I've done quite alot, not seen any real difference.

There is a big difference, I can play all on high where as before if I tried to play @ medium I would get stuttering in heavy combat, now when in heavy combat I don't get any stuttering at all.

Um, not really. I can't run textures on high with my OCd 7800gt with only 1 GB.

Mate, I've just started a small company for selling high persformance systems. Pm me I'll help you out. I've done numerous boxes especially for BF2, you shouldn't be playing anything less than Ultra HIgh with your setup.

                Cheers

crazy talk........ 1.5 - 2 gigs is needed if u want to run it full glory, smoothly , period.
you can "tune your box" and keep believing such nonesense. adding more ram = huge performance increase.

and also 1 gig is not more than enough.

Both of my boxes are tuned. It has nothing to do with that.

                      Read up.

I sell high performance systems, and have tuned probably over 100 boxes pure for BF2. Trust me, I will put in 2GB of ram if the client insist on it. But it is no big difference and I've seen the results from big to small systems. It will load faster. There is a big difference between 512 and 1GB as I stated earlier. Anyhow, I'm glad the poster is happy. I just happen to have another opinion based on experience . That is all.

                          Cheers

Obviously you didn't "read up", or come with any hard data. If you'd read my link you will see that it is a basic fact of BF2 that you need 2Gb for high settings.

Would you rather I come in here and tell you what I do for a living to back up my statement?

Oh, my dear, I'm a CIO at a medium sized company - 200 employees. Hope you're happy now? Show some respect. I'm just stating my opinion.

                              Cheers
