Damn, talk about a run-on sentence, you do know about punctuation, right? Anyway, a x850 anything does not compare to a 7800gt, it compares to the 6800 series. A 7800gt is much, much better than a x850vt.

        Texture Filtering high

Bloodbrood, consider trying any or all of the below:

        1. Uninstall your drivers using Driver Cleaner PE.
        2. If you've changed graphics cards, uninstall BF and reinstall. If you don't do this, at least reset your in game settings and delete the contents of your BF2 gfx cache - \My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2.
        3. Install Coolbits so you can unlock control panel settings and overclock your card. (core at 400, memory at 1.05 should be attainable without any issues)
        4. In your display/6800GT control panel applet, move the Performance & Quality settings slider to Performance and set both anti aliasing and anisotropic filtering to Application Controlled.

thanks il try this. I overcocked my video card by using "detect optimal" button and im at 406/1.11 speeds. hmm...but do you realy recommend i einstall my BF2? is there any other thing i can do besides reinstalling because it takes so much time.

oh and what d you recommend i put my vertical sync and triple buffering at? currently my vsync is on nd triple buffering is off. ad what should my image settings be? highest quiality?

Leave the card at 400/1.0 and see if you have crashes. Leave vsync and triple buffering off. As stated in my previous post, turn your quality settings to "performance".

6800 gt...or gt oc? Big difference. Gt gives you 12 pipelines. Gt co gives you 16...like the ultra. It also oc's like a mad thing. The best thing about it? Its not an ATI card. Good boy.....biscuit?

                  Re: Bye bye ATI...HELLO NVIDIA~!!!

First, I think your CPU is a big bottleneck for your video card, get an AMD64 3500+ and it should go well.

Second, which settings are you running it at? Don't expect to get 150 FPS on 1600X1200 all on high 6X AA. Tell us your settings.

                  I have a 3500+, 2GB of RAM and I can run BF2 all on High, 4X AA, 1024X728.

6800s have 12 rendering pipelines, 6800GTs and Ultras have 16.
The only major differences between 6800GTs and Ultras are the factory core and memory speeds at 350/1.0 and 400/1.1 respectively. A 6800GT OC will usually be clocked at 370/1.0 out of the box.
Most, if not all 6800GTs will overclock the core to at least 400 and memory to 1.05, which is why pre 7800 series, they were such a good deal compared to Ultras - Overclocked 6800GT = Ultra performance at a much cheaper price (and less power consumption).

Oh, good golly god, here we go again. So many times i have stated this, teh CPU is not th ebottleneck. A CPU will most likely not bottleneck a GPU if ur running on high with 1280x1024 with 4xAA. It will only hold back potential if ur going for pure speed, as in all low with low res and no AA and AF. THe difference between a 3200+ and a FX-57 are less than 1fps when playing on all high 1280x1024, and with 4xaa. But, if ur playing for pure speed, that would be a lot different.

                        Re: Bye bye ATI...HELLO NVIDIA~!!!

first of all my card has 16 pipelines watever the hell that means

                        my settings:
                        -100% view
-medium everything EXCEPT texture filtering which is at high
-medium for both dynamics (low is UNACCEPTABLE)
                        -1024 x 768
                        -2x AA

                        FPS = 30-40
Ive cleaned all of the ati drivers and installed forceware 82.12

you know I even get 20fps in strike at karkand when you first start out in the street below if you're USMC IT DROPS TO 20fps BELOW on a 64 player map. PATHETIC.

Try re-naming the BF2.exe file.. it should help to increase your FPS.

damn what a shame.....i have gone with Nvidia 4 years now, and its never failed me.....so far my 5900XT still plays BF2 at all medium settings with 4x AA and 4x Aniscopric Filtering.

I hope these next-gen video cards dont have a flaw, cause my new PC i plan on having a Single 7800GTX and later on getting another GTX in SLI
