    Re: Bye bye ATI...HELLO NVIDIA~!!!

well im my clan we have many members who have the 6800GT, i would suggest settings like this:

    Resolution 1024x768
    terrain: medium
Texture: Medium (since you only have 1GB of ram)
    Lighting: med
    Dynamic lighting: Low
    Shadows: off
    texture filtering: high
    AA: 2x

also i think you may be able to get away with 1280x1024 resolution also.

      not really true..

if you open the console and type in

      game.lockfps 999

      you get this..

      I run a 6800 Ultra

the object of the SS isnt about FPS, but to show you can go over 90 in the game

I just played in a 300ping server and my ping was terrible. it was like 20-40 the whole time w/ most settings on medium.

I had a Geforce FX 5500 and that thing was able to run bf2 on everything low at 800x600 no AA and 100% draw scale and it would'nt lag but then i just got a ATI X850XT and i OC'ed to PE speeds and it runs bf2 on verything high woithout any lag but lags only when hella PING but nvidia gave up on AGP so thats why ATI has an advantage over them is cause ATI made the X850XT PE AGP and that thing compares to a 7800GT almost so ATI is the way to go for AGP but if you have the $$$ then get a 7800GT or GTX ut be warned you have to have a Hella Good Processor to get max advantage from the card so Goodbye Nvidia!!!:p

The 6800GT isn't a really an 'expensive' card. It's like the normal gamers card, if you get what I mean. An expensive card would be a 256mb 7800GTX or a 512mb 7800GTX.

not to flame but, ATI is no better in this game than NVIDIA really, seeing FPS for both, they're really close in all the reviews...

                    Re: Bye bye ATI...HELLO NVIDIA~!!!

Yeah, I really don't see the point of all this, mine is better than yours buisiness. Some people have other priorities. Someone may have 2 512mb GTXs but I bet that will have knocked him back a few pennies. It plays the game at full on mine, I'm happy. If I find a game that it wont run on full, I'll consider upgrading.

The arguements aren't getting us anywhere, just possibly making it a more harsh environment between certain people. Someone may have an ATI that is better than mine and cost less. So what? I like my GTX. I do prefer nVIDIA of ATI, just from previous experiences. I have found nVIDIAs better than ATIs. Maybe now ATIs are better, but the benchmarks seem to show they are evenly balanced. I'm happy because my GTX scores higher than some 512mb ATIs.

But you get people saying, "I have a 512mb ATI, yours isn't as good as mine." The memory doesn't necesserily make it better. The large numbers may make people feel happy. But I might have spent £300 on my GTX. Then he spent and extra £100 on his. Just for a measly 10FPS increase. Or in some cases scoring less.

Can't we just stop the arguements about ATI and nVIDIA? One time nVIDIA will have a better card, 2 months later, ATI is ruling and then a few months later nVIDIA takes pole position again. It's an ongoing cycle...

                      Re: Bye bye ATI...HELLO NVIDIA~!!!

I know you can go higher than 90FPS in BF2, but 90% of the players don't know that, and you won't notice any difference in gameplay. If you couldn't, how would you tell the difference in gameplay between a 6800GT and a 7800GTX-512MB? lol.

And his Nvidia card is only messing up because of ATi's crapshoot drivers. Not only does ATi screw itself up, but its gotta take Nvidia with it.

And dude, just freakin set everything on high. You need to uninstall your old ATi drivers and install the latest nvidia drivers from www.nvidia.com . Then you'll get like 90FPS maxed out (I get 40FPS maxed out on my 6600GT, so no BS please).

If you add another gig of ram (2x512) your settings should all goto high with 100%.

Pre patch 1.12 I had everything on high with fps up to 100 at 1280x1024@70hz and 2xAA... Since patch 1.12 I run at:

                            1280x1024@70hz
                            2xAA
                            Lighting high
                            Dynamic Lighting medium
                            Dynamic Shadows medium
                            Geometry high
                            Terrain high
                            Effects high
Textures high (if you only have 1GB ram, try medium first)
                            Texture Filtering high
                            View Distance 100%

Bloodbrood, consider trying any or all of the below:

                            1. Uninstall your drivers using Driver Cleaner PE.
                            2. If you've changed graphics cards, uninstall BF and reinstall. If you don't do this, at least reset your in game settings and delete the contents of your BF2 gfx cache - \My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2.
                            3. Install Coolbits so you can unlock control panel settings and overclock your card. (core at 400, memory at 1.05 should be attainable without any issues)
                            4. In your display/6800GT control panel applet, move the Performance & Quality settings slider to Performance and set both anti aliasing and anisotropic filtering to Application Controlled.

are you 100% sure that if I add 1 more GB of RAM i can run high settings?

is PC3200 RAM the same as PC400?
